Getting into the gaming business...

How would I get into the gaming business if I have no skills with art or programing? Anyone know of any program I could get...to do somthing related to making games?

Foxtrot, get a C++ book and learn. It's not overly difficult, just takes time to learn

Have you tried programming? If you havent then yeah get a book, but if you cant do it to well then try something else. Another thing, what do you enjoy doing? No sense in taking up something you dont really like just to get into "the business". Have you tried writing? What about CGI? There are a lot of moddeling packages you could use, and its not too difficult. Theres also my favourite....map making

My dad and brother both know C++ but I always heard you have to be good at math to be good at programming. I know HTML though and I do have a c++ book. I have never tried anything so I guess I don't know what I am good at I am pretty good at writing but I hate doing it...

not true. you need to be good at logic and be comfortable with boolean algebra but not really explicit mathematics. you just need a brain that can function logically and follow certain rules etc. www.mathtools.net that website helped me through the early stages of logic etc. concentrate on boolean and logic before you get onto C++. but a good C++ book will teach you that anyway.

I really really REALLY wan't the new hammer so I can get bk into it.
I can't be arsed to map for HL1 now I know HL2 is so close....


bah, enough about me. Also, try modeling, I did it as a hobby for a while. Or annimation, I have been meaning to give that a shot an all.

There are many things to choose from really.

Heh, the picture on that website is so polictically correct, even though its pretty well known that practically all gamers are the guy at the back.

Amazing how they include a black guy and a woman who could possibly be oriental. Notice also how the white guy is stood at the back as to not suggest he is somehow ahead. You might think im over analysing but they really think about these kinds of things...


Anyway, it seems alright but i really suggest you get involved in a mod thats really going somewhere. Not jsut something you like the idea of, but something you know will do well. Take counterstrike, i dont particullally like it but i wouldnt have minded being on the team
