getting more than 100 fps in halflife without steam

I was seeing a post on the offical steam forums how this guy was getting 250 fps in Counter-strike, but he wasnt in steam. Anyone know how he did it or whats the secret behind it? He had a screenshot to prove it, and he said it wasnt photoshopped.
 
I think he was bsin, you cant do that on the hl1 engine.
 
100 FPS max, correct.
Besides...why would you need over 100fps when you have your monitor at or above 100Hertz with vsync enabled on a nice vcard and monitor. lol
 
u can get 250fps in hl1-steam-counter-strike!! i am living proof, i was told how to do this by someone..

You overclock your monitor.

And then you pray to the FPS gods.
 
nope, it only deals with editing ur config file :D + vsync off
 
cant let everyone have awesomeness... dodododo...
 
aww come on dude, I want my game to run smooth like that... never had that experience on my comp..
