Hi

I allways wanted to try modeling things like weapons, furnitures and so on, but every time I get ready to go I give up because I think it's too hard and demmanding process. My knowlegde to 3D modeling isn't huge but I want to give it a try.

Can any one here give me some good beginning advicements??
I was i.e. thinking of getting my hands on Maya (?)

Well good newbie advice is don't give up. Once you've got that sussed then worry about the rest.

That's a common mistake. People want instant results because it's an intriguing concept.

But what you need to realize is that it is indeed a demanding process, and it will take alot of hard work to create good work.
My suggestion is same as fenrics, if you want results you're gonna have to work for them.

A second advice is to start simple.
Say a polygon spaceship. Find a drawing/artwork of a simply shaped spaceship, then start working. It was the first I built, and it looked damn cool the first try. Doesn't take more than like 30 mins to an hour either.

Once you've completed that you can move on to furniture with nurbs and stuff, nurbs are a bit more demanding.

Also in the maya package there are tutorials for creating spaceships in both nurbs and polygons, and many other. I suggest maya, it's great and has everything you need.

A polygon weapon is also fairly easy.

You know what, I've always found things like guns, spaceships, vehicles, etc. to be easy because their all straight lines.

Even things that are curved (like say a mouse) are relatively east to do.

But biological creatures, especially the human head/face are almost impossible. I've studied human anatomy for art purposes and its barely helped me any. Are there any good resources for this?
