I'm one of those people that likes to get his money's worth from a game. And in most cases this involves doing it yourself.

Basically, what I'm getting at is: do any of you have any ideas how to make your Half Life 2 experience longer and more challenging?

I myself have cropped up a few ideas for the latest installment. First off was the good old "Crowbar only" challenge which was a right slag on HL and to be honest I never got round to beating it. Bit of a naff idea though, I guess. x .x
But with HL2 I thought a neat little challenge would be "Crowbar and Manipulator challenge" on hard mode for good measure.

Quite simply and obviously using only the Crowbar or Manipulator (or your hands.) to get through the game. Obviously there might be comprimises at one point but overall.

Also, no game is complete challenged without a speed run.

So, anyone else have any hopes or ideas for challengers in the latest installment?

beat it without killing a single enemy (except pivital boss's/people that need to die to advance)

......no one has played the thing yet and this is a worthless thread

Come on man what else are we going to talk about!?!?! We are all sitting around just waiting for hl2 to come out! dont flame! He has a good post!

I remember someone doing it in Deus Ex IW. Deus Ex games were built so you can beat them 500 ways. :p

Yep, beating a game without kills is classic. Should be possible in HL2 (unlike Doom3) thanks to the open environments.

I don't know how many vehicles will be there and in what places, but maybe something trying to stay in a car for as much as possible.

Not really. =/

I like the idea of not killing anyone. Excluding those that you're forced to take out.
I do remember that there was a website that used to have videos of people doing some odd run throughs on Half Life and other games.

If I myself got the equipment to video myself playing the game in such fashion I'd definetly scrounge up some webspace for it.

Your mission, if you choose to except it, is to find this website...........this post will self-destruct in 5 seconds....4..3..2..1......BOOOM! :naughty:

Yeah man, I always try to do stuff like that. I tried doing it in Call of Duty, but besides some exceptions, there's just no way of getting through without killing at least two platoons of germans :/

Christ, have you met Sgt Moody from COD: United Offensive yet? The man is BULLET PROOF. You could just follow him and you'd win the game.

o true SO true. :p

Yeah, I AM speachless right now

hmmm sounds good ideas so far.

how about....

when you are on a open area of the game. use the manipultor to set up a line on the "beach" "field" what ever....a line of dead bodies/bricks/or barrels doesn't matter...

anyway when you found the open area and added a line somewhere..

you have to be behind the line and see how far from that line u can manipultor something.

ORRRRRRrrrr...

using the manipultor (spelling) try and make a ramp... then when it is done use the buggy to test it out

haha I can see it now, setting up a strange pile of dressers, chairs, tables, and dead bodies under a ramp with the manipulator... then jumping into my buggy and trying to jump them. Evil Kanievil HL2 here I come!

I've done that. ;)

I like to play the game on normal and hard difficulties. Then find all the secret spots. Then the game is done. Not killing enemies? WHy not. I say play the game with no allies. Kill all your allies.

Enjoy the story. Wreak havok in multiplayer. You get to be sneaky and underhanded in MP.
