Hey,

Im new to modding half lief 2... infact i havent even made a single mod yet... but i would like to...

I would like to learn how to create new weapons...

I have 3d studio max 8 and i have experiance in modeling, rigging, UV mapping etc...

I just need to know... after a model has been created how do you get it into game with its animations etc. (The only thing im not experianced in is animations)

I'm sure he's aware of the existence of search engines if he managed to navigate to and register on this site. That means he doesn't need pompous replies telling him to look in a search engine. He's obviously asking here because he thinks that people who are experienced in doing so might yield more helpful links or information than a general search of the internet. If he's asking a question, either help answer it or don't post.

All the tools you need,

Then pop on over to HL2world's wiki database for lostof good tutorials.

The major problem people have as I once did is structuring the directory correctly to make your models compile without any hitches.

So to make it clear.. It's best to create a new mod by opening the source SDK and clicking createmod. That lets you create two main folders, one has all your work exported work from your 3D application (.SMD files) and other source files such as textures (.TGA files). The other is the mod iself with all it's compiled content, .VTF (textures) and .MDL files (models), If you've learnt howto model and compile properly it's important that you know the directory is set up perfectly so you can manage your content right and compile things with ease.
