Read the Dx 7 section, thats what you will be running in, and it shows you what the game will look like when in that mode.... (blurry textures etc)

with that PC, if i were u, i'd try and upgrade the video card.
HL2 will run on the PC as it is currently set up but the graphics will be toned down to the lower settings.

if u look around, u can find a 9800 Pro for around $200 USD and it would be a good fit with ur PC.

Yes. Anandtech is a trusted hardware review site.

You graphics card doesn't support fancy things like bump mapping or pixel shaders. Those are the features used to make the cool textures and awesome looking water.

Dude what is ur problem?
I posted gef2 pix, the game will look like that, same directX, prolly the same texture quality (maybe a little bit better) and your FPS will be better... But the pics are reliable

A geforce 4 mx is one of the worst cardsd nvidia ever made, if what they posted is what they say the geforce 4 mx looks like, thats what it looks like.

I have a P4 2.4 512 mb ram Geforce ti 4600 128 mb. The game will run smoothly in 1024x768 medium or high detail? No Antialising or anisotropic. Does my card supports directx 8.1?

a geforce 4 and a geforce 4 mx are completly diffrent things.

Nekrothaftis, the geforce 4 does dx8, it doesn't do dx8.1 I believe thou, doesn't have high enough shader version.

i cant post a pic, but i have a 2.27 ghz intel, 512 ram, and a nvidia mx 440 128 mb. i can run the game at medium settings with low shadow detail and low water efffects with the res at 1024x768. the game does really look nice. better than nearly all console games. btw my fps average in the high 40's, but the fps do get low when i am in the water and someone drops a flaming barrel. get the game. it will look very nice, and the gameplay is where it is truly at, and it is the greatest single player i have ever played

I have the same graphics card, and here is a site with benchmarks from the video stress test, and counter strike source beta, youll find that the results are actually most impressive for the ti4600

A GF2 is essentially the same thing as a GF4MX. (Same technology. Slightly slower speed. That's what it'll look like.)
