GLADOS stacks pancakes

That's impressive. I thought it's sped up at first, but then noticed the conveyor belt moving at a normal pace.

That's awesome!

Reduced labor costs means elimination of employees. My one issue with robotics.

with no work, our society would probably crumble. people need to work so they don't go crazy and act stupid all the time like on the show Jackass. but imagine all the time you'd have with you're family and friends if all you did was hang out all day.

I love being able to hang out on the street, while begging for food and clothing with my family and friends.

id like to see what it would do if a frisbee was thrown into the mix

I don't really care for these robot tech demos anymore to be honest, they always make people think of what they could be used for but you never end up hearing anything about them ever again so meh.

Tonight on the News: Our latest update about the pancake picking robot.

wtf dude, are you serious?

as for the work reduction. guys, you have to see the big picture. less work should lead to a smaller birth rate. reducing work but multiplying even more in such a confined space as our planet will really **** things up.

robots are great, they did/do/will do the most boring, dirty job instead of people. besides, working 8 or more hours a day behind a conveyor belt will undoubtedly mess up peoples mind. most people i met working behind a conveyor belt felt low on morale.

Yes, because poor people dont have sex. YOU'RE SMART JVERNE!

It's not exactly a tech demo. Robots have been in active use in factories for quite some time. You should watch a few episodes of How It's Made.

I know, I'm not saying they are useless, they are cool, and I wasn't really talking about this one in particular, but these kinds of videos and things are posted on HL2.net and there are always people who say "OMG THINK OF WHAT THIS COULD BE USED FOR!!!!" and you never hear of anything using the technology ever again.

I, for one, welcome our new pancake stacking overlords.

define poor people. if there were less workforce available everybody could get a job, now it is saturated. the poor people wouldn't be so poor that they couldn't afford contraception.

What is this I don't even

So if I notice my pre-cooked pancakes have big round suck-marks on top then I know they were stacked by a robot? Phew, I thought it might have been due to a giant octopus.

Prior to this robot being rolled out, it was.

Is this a Program?

Because if it is,it wouldn't happen to be "How you make it?"

You're right, everybody in Africa can still afford contraception, and they all use that stuff all the time. No overpopulation over there. Nope, no sir'ee.

dude...i'm talking for the developed nations. africa has many other problems besides this, one is political disorganization, conflicts and corruption.

The robotic thing is cool, but at 0:50 they're still using their bare hands to touch the pancakes, so it's still not exactly "hygienic." You'd think they'd have to wear plastic gloves or something. Now I'm gonna look at all my packaged food and wonder if somebody's hands have been all over it.

Also, is it just me or have jverne's posts been getting increasingly illogical/incomprehensible lately? It's starting to remind me of this dude in my class -- one time my professor asked a question like "So we know how to calculate contaminant distribution in the air, water, soil/sediments, and biota. And that's pretty much everywhere in the environment it could go, right?" and this dude gets all excitable and says "What about COSMIC RAYS," and we're all like "wtf man."
