Does anyone else think the Glastonbury festival is total garbage? I don't know about the festival atmosphere but as far as the music goes the line-up stinks. You know your line-up sucks when the Arctic Monkey's (who appeared from nowhere) are headlining one day and The Killers the next. The only decent headliner is The Who, even though they are getting on a bit (let's face it, The Who need to retire). Other than that there's an endless supply of indie bands (probably the most of any festival) that, somehow, manage to all sound exactly a-like. All of their songs are extremely similar, in tone and in content. Can't these guys come up with lyrics that actually mean something? Many of them proclaim The Smiths as an influence, well, I'm not a Smiths fan, but even I recognize their lyrics were designed to say something, something seemingly lost on the Glastonbury crowd. The way I see it, there are other festivals out there from which you'll get the atmosphere AND good music from decent bands, Glastonbury has to be one of the last festivals I'd consider going to.

Hot Chip, !!!, Bloc Party, Bjork, Arcade Fire, Kasabian, Modest Mouse, Biffy Clyro, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys...

Nope, sorry; looked awesome to me. But why Modest Mouse so far down, below The Automatic of all bands, is beyond me...

EDIT: I swear Kasabian played. Just looking at the line-up now. Hmm... perhaps I'm thinking of V.

Have you heard any of the bands I listed? Because as far as I can tell, none of them sound the same. The Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons aren't the best bands ever, more mildly catchy and somewhat entertaining for the first few listens, but everyone else there is fantastic and no where near alike in any way, shape or form.

Yes, I have heard them all with the exception of Biffy Clyro and Modest Mouse. I'll conceed one thing: I harbour a distinct dislike for the Arctic Monkeys, the others I'm apathetic towards. Certainly none of them excite me.

They're just, well, boring.

Fair enough. Personally I consider bands like !!!, Hot Chip and Bloc Party the opposite to boring but each to their own.

Kasabian and Biffy Clyro would be worth seeing.

The rest = garbage.

Lots of mud, no showers or a s**t for 2 days, usually crap bands playing, tickets over ?100..

Pfft, id rather sit at home and watch it on TV for free at 2am one night in the future...

That's every festival. :p If I had the money, I'd go to as many as I could.

Most indie is garbage. Look at MTV2 for numerous examples.

Most ''indie'' from the Uk is, but I'm not even sure I'd want to call the latest haircut/fashion/NME band indie anyway.

Now Canada...

My sister's boyfriend's band played there, The Answering Machine, on the side stage, got a decent review from NME. Weren't many good line ups really though.

Biffy Clyro are bloody awesome, followed them since they were signed to the pure gold they are today. The album 'Puzzle' is their latest awesome. I'm absolutely loving Glastonbury, all the acts are great. Watched Kasier Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers last night, superb. I don't understand how a festival like that can't captivate. Have you been to many before? You get taken in by the energy.

Like I said if I want the festival spirit I'll go to a better festival, one where you get the spirit and good bands playing!

Judging by the prejudice nature of almost everyone these days, a 'good' festival is hard to come by. Everyone bad mouthed Download this year purely due to the fact of 2 headlining bands, whilst completely ignoring the other 90+ playing.

Saying that, the atmosphere at Download this year was incredible, despite problems with corrupt camp security, the people there made it for me.

I thought the line up of this years Download was shockingly bad, and I've never gave two shits about the headliners, except for in 2004 when I was a big Metallica fan. The rest of the line up was either garage-nobody bands that came with the deal of other bands, or rebooked bands from previous years. Slayer... again? Come off it.

There was a few god bands, aye; Gallows, Mastodon, Biffy Clyro, Billy Talent... a few more, too, I can't remember them, but it's not something I wanted to put my money too this year. Which is a shame, because this was the firt Download I've missed since it started.

Now Damnation Festival, in Manchester... :cheese:
