Forum lay-out of this newspost is kind of messed up.

Looks like Halo-meets-Freespace 2. Which, would be an AWESOME combination. Space combat looks a LOT like Freespace 2.

Freespace 2 being my favorite game ever, next to Half Life. It isn't very well known, even though it recieved rave reviews when it came out in 1999.

If this mod looks appealing to you, you should check it out :)

Never played the mod but that looks pretty good. Going to try it once the new version is out.

I never liked the first versions. Hopefully this one is better.

The space battles remind me of BF42's Galactic Conquest (Star Wars) Mod.

I must say this mod has come a long way, this 3rd beta looks really good judging from the video. And I agree if you don't like it say what you don't like, give feedback, how else can mod makers fix what needs fixing to make it even funner to play?

if i had to give feedback id say: "i dont like the texture style" but that doesnt help the dev team at all. (More mechanics detail, scratches, detail in general etc etc : D)

-dodo

What didn't you like about it? I'm curious.

I don't remember the specifics very much as I played it when it was first released, but there was this general "feel" to it I didn't like.
Who knows, maybe you've made some major changes since the first version and I'm just an ignorant stump :|

Looks much nicer than the older beta's. Hopefully its a fair bit smoother and a easier to fly with the mouse. When i first heard about this mod i was hoping it would play like tie fighter but it wasnt. Oh well :)

wow, looks awesome

I played the first one, and it was fun, but there were lag issues.. If this gets minimized I can see myself playing this game quite a bit

very nice job :)

1. Landing was really hard, and when you finally did, you got blasted to pieces by a mob with heavy machine guns hehe

2. Infantry combat was way too spammy for my tastes, felt like unreal tournament but worse.

Those were for me the 2 main reasons I never went back. In short, if you implimented a better system for landing and not being ambushed upon exiting the craft, and slowed down the infantry combat, I would probably give this mod another whirl.

Lag: Corrected since 2.0
Spammyness: The weapons have been completely rebalanced
Landing: It's a lot easier with the new flight system, and we're focusing on this problem.

If you haven't played since 1.0, I would strongly suggest giving it another shot when 3.0 comes out, because the game is much more polished and shares almost nothing with the original version. It's leaps and bounds ahead of 2.3 and light years from 1.0

My main gripe was that you would spend 30 seconds to jump in a fighter and dock in a ship, only to die after what was sometimes mere seconds of combat. This means that it takes a LOT longer to master the weapon sets and be able to compete with the people who have been playing it longer than you have, since you only get roughly 10-20 seconds per life to invest in learning the weapons.

As long as that mechanic has been thoroughly addressed, I'm happy to give it a second shot.

Definitely looks a lot better than the first version.

I had a blast with the mod, it was disappointing to look for servers one day and not find any.
