I hope they win, but I'm not very optimistic about this year, if it weren't for Fleury, I think they'd be screwed.

hmm....I dunno if the Fins are good enough to win it...they are good though....

It's still 1-0 with 10 mins left in the 2nd.

It's weird that it's not on TV over there.
 
Is it the kind of Hockey where some players are just paid to fight? or is that just some kind of pro league?
 
Does anyone else play Ice Hockey except for Canada?

Austria isn't a very worthy opponent.....but still :)

You didn't answer my question? Do any other countries play Ice Hockey in a big way? I'm just wondering.
 
Oops, sorry, I think I am wrong on that one. They're BEATING austria 4-1 in the 3rd period....

Yea, I thought you were being Sarcastic.....I thought you were American...

Yes, they do, Cheche Republic (spelling is wrong, i know), Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Ukrain, USA, Canada, Slovakia are all in this tournament. Germany was in it last year, but I think they lost their eligibility.
 
USA takes a great part in hockey Feath. They have the NHL(National Hockey League)
that has 30 teams. 25 American, 5 Canadian.
 
Canada has six. Americans have 24. That's if you consider teams like Washington and Pittsburgh a "team"...they should just get it over with and fold right now.
 
That's not nice. Washington should go, but Pittsburgh? What what's the 6th Canadian team?

Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver.


Also, yes, Pittsburgh, they're in such Financial trouble it's not Fit. Mario Lemeiux saved them a number of times.
 
watched the game, impressive win :)

its too bad the NHL teams wouldn't allow our better juniors to play in this tourney.. anyway go Canada!! :D

hmm.. i just hope the NHL works out all that CBA stuff.. i love hockey and it would really be sad without a season.. or more.. :|
 
I love hockey too. Let's go Rangers! If the NHL loses a season they will hear from me.
 
It's good to hear that Canada is doing well (not a surprise though). Hockey is the only sport that Canadians (in general) take seriously, unless curling becomes more popular.

Also hockey fights are quite common because the players become so emotional while playing. It's one of the few team sports out there that allow guys to scrap with each other with the only consequence being a 5 minute penalty (unless you really hurt the other guy, then there are things like suspensions and fines...but it's all good.

Hockey:
- one of the few sports to be played on ice
- uses a rubber cylindar instead of a ball
- guys get to knock people down (body checking)
- fights for the viewer's entertainment
- and it also includes a long and grueling playoff making the final trophy (the Stanley Cup in the NHL) worth it.

Anyways go Canada, and good luck to the other teams too.

I heard they lost to ENGLAND....but I thought that must of been wrong. And I think it was...but it would have been Exibition anyways......

Sweden plays Austria for their first game in the round robin tomorrow.

I used to watch this leage where there would be about 4 or 5 fights a game, they would just take there gloves off and have a brawl, while the refs just stood there and watched. They didn't get sent off for doing it or anything.
 
What´s going on in the world of hockey??
Some sort of championship??
