who here is thinkin there will be a gold annoucement this week :cheers:
 
I think we will all be very mift if they dont give us one before end of the week.
 
I'd put my money on two to three weeks. They even had to delay the preload, so they're likely running a week behind whatever time schedule they had a month or so ago.
 
yeah i guess your right, but that doesnt mean we can't bitch and hope for this week, am i right ppl?
 
well i think we have a about a 60% chance of hearing a gold announcment
 
well valve knows that were expecting a gold statement and a guy at ati said that valve told them "it would be goin gold this week but not to spill the beans".
 
i heard that the ati thing is fake, or might be fake, i think everything is fake now because of that damn hoax!
 
i dont think anyone hacked his account, but maybe hes lookin for plublicity for his site, or he needs the satisfaction that the "person x" needed

Valve knowing we're expecting a gold statement means nothing.
That's not a "guy at ati." That's a guy at an ATI fansite. He does not work for ATI. He also said the only thing he was actually told was that it'd be soon. Not "this week." That was just his speculation.
 
well maybe but i still think that we'll see a gold announcemnet this week
 
there are alot of ppl that think its gonna be 2005, im gonna be dissapointed if its not out by the end of september, i think valve feels our pain...i think

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

If there's no gold announcement by next Monday, I say Half-Life 2 isn't coming out until the first week of October at the earliest. So basically, if there IS a gold announcement this week, I'd be pleasantly surpised, because I'm not really expecting one this early. :)
 
Don't count on it. I think we won't be hearing a gold announcement at least until the CS:S beta is over.

i mean...

if you emailed gabe and he said something cryptic.... then sure go for it..

but just geussing this week becuase this is this week sorta annoys me...

is there a possibility that hl2 can be gold, and just be waiting on cs:source, so cs:source will be the only part holding back the release?

I think there is more anticipation this week because it is the first week of September. If VALVe is going to get the game out before October, they need to go gold soon. Therefore, everyone is hyped :)

I'm thinking the same thing. All these people from the steampowered forums are complaining about bugs in the cs:s beta. I'm guessing valve wants to ship cs:s with hl2 so that's what's holding back the hl2 release.
 
IMHO, the CS:S beta is actually testing the engine for online play in a real world situation, so that they don't have any problems when HL2 is released, which, of course is supposed to have multiplayer.
Possibly CS:S is HL2 multiplayer?
anyway, there is supposed to be abother CS:S Beta update tonight of abt 36mb....not sure if it'll be steam or just to cafe's...
in the alcatraz video, gabe said lucky if by holiday season...that to me is between thanksgiving and christmas...
personally...I can wait...Doom3 mods will be more plentiful soon!
 
Wasn't the Alcatraz thing last year? Anyway, the CS:S beta with all of the maps and models would be a lot more release-worthy than some games' multiplayer (like Doom 3, which let you cheat through the console online.)
 
whoa whoa, back up, alcatraz vid had gabe saying what now? when did they put a holiday release window up?
 
There's no way the game is going gold while CS:S is still being beta tested.
 
hl2 itself could go gold while all the kiddies that want cs:s sit anxiously for the team to finish it up so the can ship the hell outta hl2, what do you think

watch the video..he says end of summer, but most likely not until the holiday season. not sure when it was taped, but i thought after e3 2004..could be wrong tho

Or they could just not ship CS:S with it and just make it avaliable on steam to all HL2 cd key owners.

I doubt CS will delay HL2 at all.
 
valve promised cs:s w/ hl2, and they've broken enough promises, i dont think it would upset alot of people to not include both games with the release, im thinking gold is far off now.... how typical...I WANT HL2!
 
I can always create a Gabe Newell acount here and post a fake gold news too :E
