The news flows. Sometimes the pipe is blocked and it takes a while, but the news always flows. [br]

Everybody has loved Bond at some point in time. The work over at Goldeneye Source is no different. Eager to please, the team have released their version of the AR-33. [br]

It arguably is the best weapon in Goldeneye 64, right up there with the RCP-90. With the AR-33's high rate of fire, extensive zooming capability, and its deadly magazine - who honestly didn't feel like Rambo running and gunning with the largest rifle in the entire game? It also is one of the few weapons with the ability to hit two targets with a single bullet. This was the weapon of choice for countless villains in Goldeneye, and now it can be yours.

[br]As well the Team have given us a Work In Progress shot of the Tiger helicopter, to be used as an ingame prop, not pilotable. [br]

Ill be blunt. Chopper looks great, rifle is horribly generic

You say the helicopter is great because you don't see it very often.

You say a very common rifle is generic.

Your logic is undeniable.

They aren't reinventing the wheel, they're remaking a game... it's not up to them whether it's generic or not.

The Ar33.. Something about it looks very wrong to me

And I've been playing goldeneye recently on my N64 :E

In the actual game, the rifle is horribly low-poly and the perspective on it from the first person is a bit different:

Honestly, I played one of the last releases of Goldeneye Source and was pretty disappointed overall.

I enjoyed the first release but only for a couple of hours.

I think I was mostly running off the whole "GoldenEye nostalgia" thing and that's about it.

It's an alright mod. Good for a download at least.

Well if all goes good it should be a Good Mod to play with Friends or at a LAN party.

I dunno, even the nostalgia factor didn't make me like the mod that much. Goldeneye (and later Perfect Dark) really dominated the Nintendo 64 here for years.

Perfect Dark Source looks a whole lot better, imo.

Sure, I get that. A touch of stylization would have gone a long way. Something that lets me go 'ah, thats the goldeneye source rifle'.

not here to be egotistic, but i just had to remark...

that facility shot looks very eerily similar to the one i made for hl2 dm... like down to the hl2 prop placement, texture selection, and color choices and lighting choices...

hope nothing was decompiled...

would be intrested in playing this for myself to see if im wrong(or perhaps right)..

Do you have proof of such things?

No offence, but they look nothing alike.

Apart from the fact that you and Fourtecks (The GE:S dev who made ge_facility) both took the design from GE64.

the grates on the bottom.
the pipes under the grates.
the red light coming from the grates.
the red light at the end.
the texture on the steps.
the number of steps.

and this is just from a glance of one particular shot.
and these design ideas, werent taken from Goldeneye 64, as GE64 shares none of the given asthetic choices.

doesn't mean it was decompiled. most mappers worth their weight in quarters could remake that scene rather faithfully.
