I went fishing today.

Turned out that a co-worker of mine was an avid angler with 2 boats. One was a small 2 man aluminum skiff, while the other was an old 40 foot decommissioned Navy Officers launch that was used during the 60's. Pretty damn cool. Once he found out that I greatly enjoyed holding a pole in my hand myself, he invited me to go out for a day of fishing. 6 hours later, I had caught 14 Strippers. All under 18 inches. Still fun to catch though. The only downside is I now have fishy-smellin-fingers. Damn Sardines!

Went on the Middle river outside Stockton. Catfish, Crappie, Strippers, Black Bass & others. Sorry no pictures to use as proof. We did get a good laugh when I caught a Stripper that was about 2 inches bigger than the bait I was using. Sadly his cell phone camera didn't seem to want to work.

My next sortie will be with my daughter. She loves to fish.

For those that don't know what a Stripper is:

fishing is fun but i haven't done it in years

Awesome dude!

I only ever went fishing twice.

Once as a kid that I don't really remember with my dad, brother and my dad's friend.

And the other time charter fishing in Homer, Alaska out on a boat. Huge waves, tons of vomit.

But the halibut we were fishing for came up out of the depths to the surface and they were so close we could hook them.

Cool. I used to sort of like fishing when I was a kid.

I only liked it when you get bites short after casting. I can't stand that feeling of having no idea if you are just about to get a bite or if there isn't a fish for 3 miles.

I greatly enjoyed holding a pole in my hand.

I knew someone was gonna get me on that. :naughty:

hyuck hyuck.

I have been fishing I think once in my life. Take me!

If you ever make it to the Central Valley of California, look me up. I'll take you to a few good places. I'm always lookin for a fishin buddy..

Three's a crowd.

Crowded boats around here usually means we're being invaded by people wanting freedom.

We sure as hell ain't giving it to them.

Always wanted to try it but the only person who was interested in my family was my uncle who died a few years ago

yeah, I haven't been fishing in a long time, the only fish I remember that I caught was

this big.

My Dad caught a 14 lbs Bass before... Fed us for about a month.

I haven't been fishing in a few years... I should plan a trip.

i say we all go, lets buy plane/train tickets and go...right now

My next trip out will be for the fish I picture below. All of which are packed into the river I was at yesterday. I so can't wait. I hope to go within the next few days during my next day off & on a regular basis. Now I just gotta figure out a way get the OK from the missus. I'm going to take my daughter with me next time.

If anyone lives in or near the Central Valley here in Ca. & wants to have some fun, I know a few great places to go fishing. Only rule is, come to have fun. Don't use this as an excuse to get shit-faced. If you can't hold your liquor & act like an ass, god help you. I have zero tolerance for drunks. Otherwise, i'm dead serious about getting together with anyone that wants to either learn how to fish or wants to just have some fun matching wits with what-ever is at the end of your line. When I go Catfishing, I go all night. I Bring wood for a fire, food to roast over the fire, drinks & bait. Plenty of bait. I use a regular pole for Catfishing, but I use a Fly-rod for everything else. You ever catch a decent sized Bass on a Fly? Damn! Talk about a battle of epic proportions! PM me if interested.

14 Strippers in under 6 hours. That was also with just one type of bait.

Channel Catfish - Anything stinky will work as bait. Even bubblegum, marshmellows & Ivory soap has been known to work. I like to use Liver.

Large & Small mouth Bass - Buzz & Spinner Baits as well as plastic worms, seem to work the best for me.

Crappie - Real worms. Never had any luck using Crappie Jigs.

Bluegill - Real worms & small plastic worms. Thats all I have ever had luck with.

Update: - Well crap! The missus said I could go tomorrow after I got off work @ 3am (Monday morning) but she said I couldn't have my daughter play hooky from school just to go fishing with me. Perhaps I can get my buddy from work to go with me instead....

Sorry about this double post Admins.

As a surprise for my daughter, after school today I took her fishing out at the same place that I went the other day with my friend from work.

My daughter ended up out fishing me!

Within 4 hours, she caught an Unbelievable 19 Strippers! ( She was tickled pink let me tell you, that she caught more than my earlier 14 Strippers.) I am not lying or telling tall fish tales. The smallest was around 6 inches, while the biggest was just over 18 inches! I stopped counting my own fish after I reached a dozen. I was literally so busy taking off the fish & baiting her hooks, that I had very little time to fish myself!!

I took some video this time of her early smaller catches before my fingers got too stinky to handle the digital camera. I'm in the process of turning it into a movie. Once done i'll upload it to Youtube & post a link here.

What an awesome day at a great fishing spot!!
