Gone Gold - Tomorrow? (Friday)

Seeing how we got the pre-load today/tonight do you think HL2 will be announced gold tomorrow?
 
Probably not until (at the earliest) the pre-load finishes completely. Thought I read on here they plan on adding more files throughout the weekend and it should be all done by Monday (pre-load files, not complete game). If I had to guess they'd most likely announce it then (if it has in fact gone gold).
 
Would be cool, but doubt it.

Oh and nowhere does it say VALVe _has_ to announce HL2 going gold, just an FYI. It could all of a sudden be available via Steam and the next day in stores.

Plus it was only art/audio/textures and those usually are done a long time before release :)
 
If all goes well, I'd expect to see gold next week, but you know VALVe...
 
Doubt it, but hey, i could be wrong. I'd expect gold next week or sometime during September

Little too agressive on your timetable.

I expect the CS:S beta will be around for 2 more weeks. Another 2 weeks on top to implement any last changes. And 1 week for miscellaneous delays that Valve will incur. I predict gold in 5 weeks and be in stores in 8 weeks.

Well, come on...of course they're gonna announce it. If it just showed up in stores with no advertisement they wouldn't get a head start on sales (doesn't how many sold in a certain amount of time factor into their profit?).
 
Valve said that half-life 2 will most likely be gold within 10 days. They're in the final stages right now and are almost done.
 
They'll probably even announce that it will go gold in a few days, and then they'll delay that. Just to mess with our heads. ;)

the title is a bit misleading :( plz edit it, like add a "will" infront of it so we know the question mark is for a question not a shocked reaction or something.

and umm, I'm 99,99% sure it won't go gold tomorrow. 80% sure won't go gold before a week or two.

It'd be nice, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. It's better not to. Besides,

pleasant surprises > expected events
 
I'm starting to think that maybe HL2 will never be done, I wouldn't assume it's even close to completion. Call me negative but I'll believe it when I see it. It feels like it's been ages since it was announced, but it was only last year. I remember waiting for StarCraft to come out for about 3+ years and even that didn't feel as long as waiting for HL2.
 
I have to lean more conservative on gold announcements.
I think it will be announced.
I also think that if they were as close as a day, we'd get wind of it perhaps.

I mean, to go gold it has to have an RC issued, and as far as we know that hasn't happened yet. After RC it takes a while right?

So I'm still looking for storms on the horizon. . .orsomethihng

Last time I checked a question mark was used for a question. If I wanted to post it as "shocked" value I would've added a exclamation point (!) after tomorrow.

Aww man I just got an email that my x800 xt is shipping today, feels good :)

oh and about that mail I lied, just to get your attention.....I'm just happy right now :p
 
Well that was a cool thing to do :x . I still think it is possible to go gold within the next few days though.
 
The preload is no indication that the game will go gold soon, they could potentially be tweaking code for another few months while the sounds, models, textures etc sit unchanged on our HDDs. BUT I do think it will go gold soon, there's plenty of indication that Valve are nearing the end of development.
 
Come on now guys....it will most likely be within 10 days. I'm quite sure about that, don't get your hopes down just because I made a white lie.
