Anyone know of any good anti-virus that I don't have to buy? Just got a new computer.

Panda works pretty well.

Worth the price you pay in my opinion.

Avast is pretty good.

Common sense.

It's free, and has kept me virus free for years.

AVG Free Edition? Works for me.

I have this. None of the free Korean software would work in a 64 bit environment. It seems to work; I tested it out by infecting myself on purpose with a virus.

Honestly, I use Microsoft Security Essentials, and it's rather good. Check some reviews out there. I think they've stated it's one of the best free options available.

I can't count the amount of computers I had to clean a virus off that had AVG on it. Don't use that crap. Avira is the way to go.

This days common sense won't help you much. If you got adobe flash, reader, or a variety of other applications you can get infected by clicking on an innocent web link. Millions of sites are infected and they don't even know about it.

Anyone try the free version of Avira?

I am always skeptical of downloading new Anti-Virus programs, because they have a history of ****ing up my old computers. Either two Anti-Software programs will be on there and it will get all screwy, or one just slows the shit out of everything with pop-ups.

I need a new anti-virus because my free year subscription of norton (came with my new computer) just ran out.

Try Microsoft Security Essentials. I promise it to be a good choice.

I switched to Avast! some time ago after AVG started conflicting with Source engine games and stopping them from loading. Took me ****ing ages to realise it was AVG doing it.

Avira is awesome. I have it on one of my spare PCs. Best free AV and has been for a long time.
My main and HTPC uses NOD32 (not free).

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials as well. Pretty good.
