I just got an xbox for $60.00 and was wondering what games you all reccomend. i've played ninja gaiden, KOTOR, burnout 3, and Halo 1+2. I heard mercenaries was worth a gander, but I want to know what you all think.

I want to look into farcry instincts. How does it hold up to the first far cry? also how is froza motorsport? BTW I've already played ninja gaiden and I must say that it kicks ass.

Psychonauts offcourse, but also Strangers wrath( it's an oddworld game)

Mercenaries, great wannabe-GTA set in a war-torn Korea.:)

Far Cry Instincts is great fun. Doesn't hold much of a candle to the original Far Crys free roaming, but it certainly trashes it when it comes to story and design.

I ordered mercenaries off ebay for 6 dollars and now I need to see if I can't find a deal on far cry. Thanks guys, ill try these games out and see what I think. I never realized it before, but the xbox doesn't have that many really great games.

Well, if you really think about it, no system, (Xbox, PC, or otherwise) has all that many truly great games. PS2 has Metal Gear, GT3, and Katamari. Xbox has Halo, Forza, and Ninja Gaiden. Gamecube has Wind Waker, Smash Bros, and Super Monkey Ball 2. PC has Half-Life, Fallout, and Starcraft.

Really, once a system goes through a generation, there are few titles that are still seriously worth replaying.

With that said, San Andreas is great fun, you should look into it.

I beat San on the PC, and it was great fun. Also you do have a good point about the great games thing. BTW how is Froza anyway>

Save up your money ready for the nintendo revolution!! lol! failing that -> ninja gaiden, Halo 1 (ignore halo 2 cuz its sux compared to 1) and give Riddick: escape from butcher bay a blast cuz it's very fun - but too short. Is very cheap to buy now tho.

Conker : Live & Reloaded, definitely.

If you've never played it on the N64, it'll be a real treat.

It's funny, gorey, and action-packed to boot.
The multiplayer's where it really shines, though.

Oh man...how did I forget to mention that. I LOVE that game. It's definitely one of the best looking xbox games out there as well.

I've played virtually every good game on the PC that was ported from consoles(except beyong good and evil.)

Forza is pretty good. I'm not normally one to get into the racing-sim genre, but it was far and away a better sim than the PS2's Gran Turismo series. The driving physics feel a lot more "real", and the AI is definitely better. Plus, you can enable full car damage in races, so you can go beyond tire damage and get into steering, brakes, and engine damage as well.

Plus, the upgrade system is pretty expansive, and you can paint your car any color you want, and add about a hundred different decals to each. I've made some pretty interesting designs on my Lexus :D

Unless you already have it, Morrowind would be a good choice, hell the GOTY edition will keep you busy 'til this time next year! That is, if you are into RPGs.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

You're welcome.

Agreed, but not if you have an old xbox. The disc drives in the old xboxes give dirty disc errors all the time with it :/

I hope when you mean Far Cry you don't mean the Xbox version...because it might be the worst game ever made

And an Xbox is worthless without Forza Motorsport and Splinter Cell (all 3)

If not all three, then at least Chaos Theory. Easily the best stealth game ever.

Yes, better than Thief.

/me awaits flames

That Warhawk sequel coming out. Forgot what it's called. But Warhawk owned.

Maybe that's PS3. Whatever.

Jet Set Radio Future
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Jade Empire
KOTOR (better than pc version imo)
GTA 3 (best GTA and best version full stop :))
Ninja Gaiden
Pro Evolution Soccer 5
Halo
Chronicles of Riddick

There's plenty of others, but these are my faves.

Far Cry Instincts, is no where NEAR the worst game ever made.
Hell, Far Cry Instincts and worst game ever made shouldn't even
be in the same sentence. :|

It even kicks the PC version's ass.

Warbie...grrrrrrrr must kill console fan...... :p

I actually think the best bits of Far Cry on the pc were much better than Instincts. It wasn't consistent though - and also contained some horribly crappy levels :(

My bro sold it to me with two controllers, halo 2, men of valor, and pandora tomorrow. Sweet deal!

Get Counter Strike! play it online YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Instincts was pretty damn fun, and was much more cohesive than that of the PC version.

You should also look into Burnout 3. I just bought it last week, only $30 Canadian, and I actually like it a lot better than Revenge.

I had an xbox before and I played this one to death. Great game indeed.
