I have handed in my resume to the farm labour pool, and they just called today to tell me they found a job for me, I work for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and make $8 an hour, I am to operate farm equipment, and do general labour around a farm, I'm 14, so.. like.. is this a good job, or is it crappy?

In my old job i picked blueberries, $ .60 a pound, TERRIBLE PAY, I know the job i was offered is better then the bluberry job but, I'm tired of working like crazy for crappy pay, so is it a good job to have, or should I turn em down?

(This would be my 2nd job ever, that is why I am asking you all)

Good job, BAD pay.
Farm work should net you at least $10 an hour (I'm assuming this is in Ontario, as that's your location)
I used to work on a farm picking asparagus, hoing fields, sometimes cutting various kinds of lettuce, laying irrigation pipe, and other farm things like that, and I got $10 an hour. I'm from a rural area, so I know for a fact that most farms pay at least $10.

Edit: If I were you I'd take it, but def keep looking for a better paying job

40 hours a week on a farm for a 14 year old?

Best make the most of the two days off (i.e. sleep), you'll probably be very very tired!

Hey bud, I used to move pipe and pull rye for around 7 bucks an hour. Thats farmwork and from what I can tell you're doing pretty good. Besides, farmwork does wonders to your body....when you're younger.

Eep, you got ripped off
Is that in Canada?

ha man that's a great pay for a kid. In Mexico people don't even get that being a manager in a bank.

I live in a small small town, I do what I can for money.... that doesnt sound right

...well that's pretty random.
I used to work in construction when I was 14 and I got $8 an hour. Knowing now that I did the same amount of work just as well as other labourers who were older but got paid more is a major piss-off. Age shouldn't matter at all, it's the quality of your work.

Well they probably get paid more because they have more responsibilities, how many 14 year olds have a family and mortgage to sort out?

That's a sorry excuse. Quality of work is all that matters.
And for the record, these people were between 18-23, I was 14.

they are letting a 14 year old operate machinery? lol

Thats what the guy told me, he said I operate the tractors and harvesters, he said he will teach me how to do it.

And now that I think about it, the pay at this place is better then most jobs 14 year olds have (e.g. paper boy). I make about 300 bucks a week, I make more then my 16 year old brother, who makes $7 and hour, plus it's good for my body too, I get money and get fit, maybe this isn't going to be such a bad job after all :), I think i'll give it a go. I'm only working there for the rest of the summer (4 weeks), I need the money to buy a PSP and some school clothes and school gear, I'm goin into highschool dammit!

Well of course it's better than something like a paper boy, it's a lot more work. But you should seriosuly keep your eyes peeled for something similar that pays more, no harm in that. Hell, no matter what job anyone has they should always be on the look out for something better.
Also, have you tried www.jobbank.gc.ca? Lots of good stuff on there
