How do you like to play your games, as a good good guy, a good bad guy, a bad good guy, or a bad bad guy?

Good good guy: Just an all around good guy. Like the guy from the Pokemon Games.

Good bad guy: A good guy who does mostly bad things. He's a good guy on the big things, but on the little things he's evil. Like a cop who had his family killed and is looking for revenge (Max Payne)

Bad good guy: A Bad guy who does alot of good things. He's a bad guy on the big things, but good on little things. Like a bad guy who is looking to be good (usually no one trusts this guy at the start). Kind of like Vegeta (I used to watch DBZ, so he might be all good now or whatever, but when he switched sides he was still evil, but he fought for the good guys).

Bad bad guy: A big jerk who is down right evil in all aspects.
Pretty much any villain in the story. Some games let you play 100% evil characters like this.

So what's your favorite?

It's fun playing good bad guys, they seem more bad-ass then regular bad bad guys sometimes, because most of the time, they are guys who've got nothing to lose, so they are all reckless and everything.

I love the anti-hero, so that probably fits the Good bad guy though, sometimes he's the good good guy.

I'd say Kratos is an example of a bad bad guy ... sure he has reasons for being the way he is, but he's an unstoppable horror of inhumanity. And he's amazingly fun and engrossing to play as. Most of the GTA protagonists fall into this category too, although they're usually quite sympathetic.

Mostly I prefer to play as middle of the road guys.

I hate being mean to people in games. gooody-goody.

All GTA guys are different, kind of.. I mean In San Andreas CJ did alot of bad things, but he did them to get rid of the drugs in the town, so he's a Good bad guy.

Bad bad guy:Have you forgotten all the main characters from the GTA series? Tommy Vercetti for instance?

Don't forget about Fable either. :) You can be sooo evil in that game that the character gradually becomes the devil. :)

I tell myself that I'm going to create an evil character in games where the player is given a choice, but end up becoming a good guy for some reason anyways . :p

Maybe it's because the thought that most of worlds in these sandbox games are so small and killing off all the characters would eventually result in an empty, boring world. :|

I absolutely love being an evil prick; kicking puppies, robbing strangers, drinking your milkshake. Hell, I can't be that guy in real life so I might as well make NPCs live in absolute hell.

So I'm guessing:

In that case, I like to play all kinds of classes, but I like the chaotic neutral, beer swilling, whoring mercenary one the best.

I dunno, I generally like to be good, but sometimes my greed can get the best of me and I got evil things for cool stuff or extra money (see: KOTOR)

I hate the idea of a truly evil person in storylines... Just a bit ridiculous.

'good bad guy' is my preference to play. Goody two shoes are just irritating. Never played a game where evil routes were at all well done.

I like playing good then turning evil. Like in Jedi Academy.

Good good guy. It's not bad if you're killing aliens or foreigners. Lol.

I dunno- good bad I guess. I'm kind of a machiavelli when it comes to playing games.

Oh yeah, that was fun as hell.

"Why Jaden?" GTFO! *smashes Katarn's head to the floor.

Depends on the game! If there's a lot of annoying NPC's I tend to be a nasty a little bastard, but if I like them then I'm good! So pretty much, none of the above yet all of the above, so just nuts. My way or the highway, bitches.

For example, I played Deus Ex fairly recently. Generally, I was an OK dude and tried to do the right thing as if it were me in real life... buuuut I killed a few civilians on the side that said the wrong shit to me at the wrong time. Sue me! I always ended up labeled chaotic evil in the Neverwinter Nights games even if I didn't start that way because everyone was just so god damn stupid. Baldur's Gate II... neutral good I think! I even married that faerie chick at the end, how sweet.

This is all speaking in RPG terms where you get to choose... games that don't allow that and have predefined guys... I really don't care, I just care if the game is a good one or not. :p

(I voted Good Good guy since that's always the goal, heh.)

I like to play a Good bad guy. Loose morals and on the whole evil, but generally just a comic relief-type guy.

I usually aim for the good good guy. But I often play the good bad guy I guess.

I'm also talking about things like taking stuff off poor NPC's shelves. I won't steal unless I justify it to myself that it's for the general good (like "I'm the one who's saving the world here, so I need that more than you"). As for killing NPC's - if the guy's not neccessarily bad, but I'd like him dead for whatever reason, I'll try to make him draw his gun on me first.

Oh my rofl playing a baddy was annoying at first in Fable.

This one bloke in your hometown walked up to me and said: Your face, looks like the inside, of a nose!"

And I was like: :|

Of course, being a goody isn't much better. I mean christ, you get men with hearts over they're heads chasing you!

The good bad guy. That's definitely the way to play mass effect IMO

Good Good Guy here. When I'd play AVPII and was on the Alien campaign, I'd die before I'd waste the local scientists for food.

I'm a chaotic good guy. What I do depends on my mood.

while never given the opportunity in games I'd prefer to play the bad bad guy instead of mr goody two shoes who's job it is to slaughter 420 germans/haitians/mexican terrorists or aliens

Bad good guy.

Partly cause i just love being a jerk and stealing things. and partly because Goodie goodies seem to whimpy to me.

Bad bad usually I have the most fun with and play most. But usually to get all the enjoyment out of a game you have to play all the fields.

Not really bothered. Do what I have to to get the money to get the best stuff.

In Fable, for example, I did quite enjoy being evil, but the ultimate look of your character is rather rubbish (as it is on the good side too, but its just something about having a receeding hairline to make way for horns that kills it for me) and many of the "evil" options make little sense.

Example :- Sword of Aeons vs Killing your sister. I don't care what the game says about its power, the SoA isn't as good as the weapons you can already have. And whats more useful to an evil person, an above average Melee weapon or knowing someone who can see into the future?

Probably Bad Good Guy at the end.

I'll add that a few years ago (I'm 20 BTW), when I was a kid I didn't have the moral restraints to pickpocket everyone in sight and swipe every shelf in Fallout 2.

Im good good but it depends on the game really. Like in KOTOR and Mass Effect, I always choose the good guy options as it were, as I just feel bad making evil decisions and end up reloading and replaying scenes for the better.

Meh.
