Good racing games?

Hello, I'm looking for recommendations on good fairly realistic strategy games that have proper career mode, think along the lines of Formula One '06 on the PS2.

I'm open for any suggestions aslong as they are fairly realistic games(I.e. not Burnout for ex.).

If you want a realistic racer, check out GTR2. Its going to be released on 360 in a couple months and I wouldn't be surprised if a PS3 version pops up.

Edit: Gran Turismo & PGR3 aren't even close to realistic.

Hmm, Gran Turismo and PGR3 aren't really what I had in mind, when I say career and I took F1 '06 as an example, for those of you who have played it, you know you have to get hired by a team, interact with your company etc etc, that sorta thing.. I own both GT4 and PGR3 and they didn't really allow that last time I played X.o

So you're looking for like a Championship manager for racers? Maybe Toca?

GTR2 has a lot of car tuning options, but thats about it as far as the sim goes.

Hrrm not really championship, more like career modes in say NASCAR games(I've played'em all), i.e. you play a part of your team but you manage stuff like team tactics etc etc like real drivers do.

I haven't played any racing games, but I know I like realistic physics and crashes... My friend has played Motor Storm on the PS3 and he says it's amazing... Realtime bending and tearing of metal and shit, physics are the future of like everything.

Vegeta, Yeah Motor Storm looks nice, I hope they have that kinda physics for the first next-gen only Burnout game, on both the 360 and PS3, because I probably won't be buying a PS3 myself eh

Edit: Gran Turismo & PGR3 aren't even close to realistic.

First, gran turismo and PGR are two different types of racing games, GT is a simulator and PGR is an arcade racer. Second, GT4 is the most realistic racing game I've played, my only complaints are the car reacts unrealistically at the limit, the e-brake is...indescribably bad, you can't give it gas in a backwards slide (although if you are backwards technically you should have the brakes locked anyway), and the AI is really lame.
