Goof in Half-Life 2

American electrical outlets in Eastern Europe?

I saw this when I was exploring the housing in the beginning of the game, right before you begin to run from Civil Protection. Just a funny little mistake, I don't know why I even thought about it when I saw it.

Man, you must really have nothing to do, to such an useless piece of info like this........
 
This is in the year 2010 so maybe Europe adopted our(American) power outlets. ;)

Extremely common mistake by contractors. See, ground is suppose to face up, that way something cant drop down in and become electrified.
 
This guy isnt picky; he didnt say he had a problem. He was just making note of it,. and hes right. That outlet does not belong there. Its certainly not effecting anybodys enjoyment of the game, but I think its noteworthy.

I don't think i'll be able to enjoy the game as much as I did knowing that they screwed up the power outlets. ;(

City 17 is suppose to be in europe but, they have american outlets. Just a funny little goof up thats all.
 
You see, there are these things called other countries. They are different from the United States in many ways. One way is in power outlets. Here in the US we use Edison Plugs, which is the two prongs, and a ground. Over in european countries they use different outlets because they have different voltages than we do. We use 120, they use 240.
 
So what if the outlet is american? Citadels appear in every city out of nowhere and there's headcrabs! What am I saying? Earth has more important things... :/

Those outlets are used all over the world. Canada,Netherlands,Japan,Trinidad, etc etc etc...

Well, in fact I asked what the problem with the outlet was. And that would be Ms. Smarty-Hair to you.

Are you sure the European versions of HL2 don't show European outlets? ;)
 
Never mind that! What about the fact that it's so dangerously close to the faucet??

Thats where City 17 is.
And in my bathroom there's plugs, if I wanted to curl my hair, or I decide to grow a beard because I feel like using an electric shaver it's there.

Or electrocute yourself. Its pretty standard to have outlets in a bathroom, or next to a sink in a kitchen (with the garbage disposal switch), but footsteps does have a point, it does seem odd to have an outlet so close to a basin in a public bathroom.

Maybe its for the combine, so its easier to electrocute small animals and babies.
