so i just noticed this today.

It's pretty accurate at picking up what you say into your microphone. Anybody else try this yet?

Some searches i've tried...

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood

I like big butts and i cannot lie

etc... it didn't have a problem recognizing these phrases when talking normally.

edit: it does censor swearing and stuff like saying Dildos.

Not mine either, using chrome as well. I'm not suprised they have it though, I use an Android phone that does the same thing (not just for searches), so it makes sense that they'd bring it over.

"Voice Search" is totally misleading. This is just speech recognition, which has been around forever.

And I don't think I'd want to speak my google searches allowed :naughty:

Nor is it on mine. But my phone has it and it works pretty well even when I have three people yelling and the radio on.

also explain the background I can't believe I'm the first one to say this

Why do you even need the google home page if you have chrome?

That was the name used on Android where it was originally conceived (for this purpose). It's just literally been ported with the same name for continuity sake.

I use it quite often when I'm looking for a particular place I can't find, "map of liverpool street" and it throws up google maps in that location.

I wish there was a sound search. I always use tinyeye/google image search.

I'm too fat to move my fingers, so this is great

Has it ever occurred to you that the only reason Google is doing this is to collect vital voice information on you so that they can reconstruct a robotic version of you, acting and sounding the same as you, except the real you would be in Google's basement hooked up to a machine so that you can provide nutrition for the lich-like half-dead overlords of Google?

Has anyone seen the new 'search by image' function too? I can't figure how it works because the drag and drop system is just a buggy mess on the computer I'm currently using.

The background? If you stay signed into google, you can change the background of your basic google search. The lower left corner has a thing that says "change background image" and I just used a picture that I liked.
