My short attention span couldn't handle that article..but i summed it up looks bad.
 
So basically they can view anything you look at while you're online.....google blows..
 
I've never downloaded any google software.

Probably will still use their search though.
 
Can anyone now view any webpage or is it just if the people are using the accellerator too?
 
This is exactly why I don't have gmail or anything related to google on my pc or on their servers.

I made a thread about this allready in the hardware/software forum.
 
Won't be using that then. But then my connection isn't exactly slow so I would't use it anyway, regardless of what I now know about it.
 
Well aslong as i dont use that software, i'm safe, aswell is everyone else from me. Stupid move by Google, they haven't advertised it as far as i know though or marketed it... I've never heard of it anyway (before now).
 
What's the fuss about? Some ISPs have been doing this since the dawn of time. Nobody cares, get over it.
 
Honestly, who cares if some random person on the other side of the world can see what web pages you're visiting?

Who uses "google web accelerator" anyway? Probably the same people who always click on the "shoot the cowboy and win a free ipod" ads IN INTERNET EXPLORER then wonder why their computers are running so slow and they have a load of pop ups on their computers. Idiots.

And this happened on a family friend's laptop. She brought the laptop over, I put AVG anti virus and lavasoft ad-aware on the comp and scanned.

Total Viruses (avg scan): 356
Total Spyware/Trojan/ect items (ad aware scan): 2096

Surprise surprise!! The computer runs smoothly again with no pop ups and ads. God I hate people who are so dumb with computers.
 
If Microsoft had released something similar, you can damn well be sure millions of angry, greasy Lunix zealots would be carrying torches and pitchforks to Bill Gates' house.

This is obviously among the most nefarious aspects of web-accelerator programs, why shouldn't google have it?

I agree with the articles viewpoint on Google being viewed as too glorious compared to companies like Microsoft, and albeit I like Google I think too many people actually don't expect them to have programs working this way, even though it's, like I said, very common.

That's pretty ****ing biased. Not everybody is brought up with a computer in their household, so they have no way to learn it.
