Gordan's HEV Suit

I haven't seen this disscussed before, and the search turn up nothing...

Anyway it has occured to me that Gordan may not be wearing his HEV suit also know as the Hazard suit. If u look at every video even the old crappy video cam corder ones, it seems that Gordan is only wearing gloves on his hands sort of like the terrorists in cs. Now please correct me if i'm wrong... which i'm hopeing i am, but even though i haven't studied the new HiRes videos frame by frame, the HEV suit seems missing...

So disscuus among your selves i shall go play some NS 2.0 now
 
The gloves look fairly similar to the original's if you ask me and he's all HEV'd up in all the artwork we've seen.
 
There is a counter that says "Suit" by the health in the latest vids. That's proof enough for me.
 
Kitfox , when he swings the crowbar at the mansaws or whatever , you can see the whole arm of the HEV suit.

He is wearing a hev suit - if u watch the 600mb vid when hes shooting that thing with the barrels on at the start u see the orange bit.
 
This is probibly the third time I've seen a topic about this. Yes hes wearing the suit. I dunno what U saw that made u think otherwise. Its orange, and it has silver metal running down the side of it. Doesnt look like an arm to me...
 
i think you guys overlooked a verry subtle detail "sound" in one of the movies i'm not sure which one gordon emptied his USP on a enemy and i heard amunition depleted "the similar voice as in half-life 1 of the HEV suit"
 
We're all capable of using our ears, we have actually noticed that but it hasn't been mentioned because it is just a very subtle detail. Nothing special.
 
How come it's either the original HEV-suit down to the last detail, or no suit at all?

maybe it's gotten a few upgrades during the 15 years in between, maybe it's an entirely new model, maybe it's an entirely different, new kind of protective gear. I'm just saying maybe here... :)

that's the same suit it's always been.
 
yeah, but that's concept art, not the real, finished model. I say we wait until the game ships and we get to see the final model.

(and for all you nitpickers: if the HEV is the same, shouldn't the HUD be exactly the same too? they can't just go around and changing one thing without changing another :D)
 
now someone make a topic on wether the HEV contains shoes or do they come seperate?
 
Chris_D, normally I agree with you but if the final HEV suit looks anything like the concept art there, then that isn't the old HEV suit. The old suit was all orange, there wasn't any of this grey arms/shoulders stuff.

Personally I hope its suped up, but still the same old charm...

Thats concept suit is a new version, look at the overlapping armour on the stomach and crotch.

here's the better question.. why is he still in his lab suit 10 years after the lab is history.

Oh and about the changes.. Valve probably just wanted to bring his style up to the 21st century.. those orange arms are so 1998.
 
if i had gone through black mesa, i wouldn't want to take it off either...I'd be paranoid of begin caught without it. He's probably developed some sort of schitzopsychiconeurological dependancy inferiority complex with severe narcolepsy and paranoia.

Well, except the narcolepsy...
 
that or when you exit the tram at the END of hl1 your instantaniously taken to the future city 17

The new suit doesn't have hard armor crotch protection! How will gordon have children in the event of a bullsquid attack!??

its not just a lab suit...its an all purpose protective armor...would you rather have it fighting off alien forces or just have on a jacket like alyx?
 
Hell, if someone gave me an HEV suit I wouldt ever take it off either. I bet its comfy too.

Guys, i have proof he's wearing the HEV suit :

In the "tunnels" Bink movie, when his ammo of his pistol runs out, you can hear the HEV SUIT VOICE : "depleted" just like in halflife, so..yes , he's wearing the hev suit.

(maybe in the later part of the game he isn't?)
 
i still say the picture shows no orange in the arms...
 
tarkus, the new suit doesnt have orange in the arms! i like the old suit better though, in the new one he has this armadillo thing going on near his crotch
 
but if the art work of Half-Life 2 shows no orange in the arms, howcome they show in the game???

Because its only a conecept. Go look at Starcraft, its the best example for "they dont look like the artwork".
 
EDIT: Actually, he's always wearing the suit. You see it in ever single video whenever he looks up.
 
my pic has orange in the arm...concept art never matches in game art perfectly
