Curious...would this change the game for anyone...I mean.

HL 1 you (Gordon Freeman, MIT Grad) at work, doing the usual when all of a sudden hell breaks lose and your right in the middle.

HL 2 you (Gordon Freeman, hero of Black Mesa, G Man operative) , coming out of status to come kick some.

Part of the appeal in HL 1 was you were not a bad ass marine, or similar stereo type hero character, you were a science geek at work.

I hope HL2 keeps that feeling of being in a bad situation, not being able to get out, and having no choice but to fight.

I would really hate it if in HL2 gordon ripped off his HEV, revealing he-man muscles, yelled 'Asta la Vista, baby' and rushed off to kick some alien ass. That would really ruin the feel of the game.

As for his suit, I hope it's been upgraded some, but still the same suit (maybe call it a mark IV.I :cheese. Strangely I feel 'attached' to the HEV somehow, I would be disappointed to get a shiny brand spanking new one (they don't make em like they usd to...). Also I would be disappointed to get a HEV mark X without any new featured. Going to mark V should be a momentous occasion.

By the time Gordon gets a mark X, he'll probably be invincible.

He looks far better in these newer ones, although every so often I see a glimmer of Eddie Izzard, and then I tell myself I'm seeing things... I must be...

Yeah, in the Alyx expansion pack, Gordon talks to her in a deep Arnold acsent, and says

"Come with me if you wan't to live"

(This was in that promo advert they did for the original, said by a female black ops (don't ask why (because she was the enemy (and she was going to protect a reporter, for some strange reason))))

They new HEV does seem to be upgraded, remember all that fuss about the AUX Power bar in the HUD, from the vids?

I've been thinking that perhaps the G-Man's "We've been rather busy in your absence Mr. Freeman" gubbins could be his elves working on the HEV suit and upgrading it for sheer spangliness and the zoom that it appears to have acquired. On the other hand, I'm sure there are many folks who've played the leak, who know better.

The new HEV could very well be the old one just peered at a little too much by fans trying to uncover HL2's secrets. Gordon looks cool in the art.

On the note of the changed role of Gordon i think they have specifically aimed to keep the same feeling of confusion and survival that was in the first game, which means although Gordon has done his thing in the first one he isn't some hapless hero now.

hehe it was and wasnt a good change. in the first max payne his face looked somewhat awkward, like as if he was always smelling something disgusting...
and then in max payne 2 he looked more like a normal person, but that distinguishing look of max payne was gone...

Has anybody noticed how different Gordon looks in comparison to HL and HL2. Below is the list of differences:

HL (Loading Screen)

Hair: Greasy, Ginger
Facial Expression: Boring, Laid Back
HEV: Control Panel on chest armor

HL2 concept art (Gordon clutching a spore grenade, with alyx behind him)

Hair: Darker, Styled (slightly spikey)
Facial Expression: Starting to pull faces like the Gman, looks serious
HEV: Missing control panel from chest plating

I actually think he looks better in the HL2 art

The concept art was on PCZONE back a few months ago, but I can't find it on the net

If anybody can spot any new differences, please point them out

its 15 years later..... the HEV has evolved DUH! Its like playing on a computer from 15 years ago.... and expecting it to be suitable for eternity... common!
