*For a disclamer, I vote that nobody believes me.*

Ahh man nice new car ! sure beats the other one you had . Did it die ?? or trade in? Your other car had alot of problems didnt it?

Sweet ride.

wow i never thought i'd live to see a discussion like this on hl2.net

cool car man, i love rx7's, especially FD's
i havent had a chance to browse your replies... got any big plans for it? or are you gonna keep it stock? i'd start by getting rid of those butt ugly decals :p

A friend of mine once spelled "gay" with his finger on the dusty window of some guy's car

His msn says he is 'Home' but 'Away'

where'd cyberpitz go?

HERE!!

No that's not my car *orange one* The original is mine, though.

And yes, I still have my other one. You can see it in one *or two, don't remember* pictures. I'm going to steal a part from it, and sell it.

Pitz do me a favor and take the fart-can off and get a real exhaust. I really hate those, they annoy me.

3 inch exhaust - cat = fireballs.
'nuff said.

LOL okay fine but too many Civics in Kansas that have those and go whining (farting, hence the name) down the street, don't get me wrong, I love RX-7s, but those exhausts just annoy me.

I love the exhaust only if it's supplying back compression to the turbo ;)

People get those to be loud so people look at their riced out POS.

and xcellerate...wtf? My 88 n/a with stock exhaust shot fireballs without the cats. Yours is borked! :p

Well I also don't drive a rotary; I have a 4cyl and a 5cyl ;) so no flames for me...but I'll get over it.

also, I can't tell, but you aren't trying to suggest that back-pressure is a good thing are you?

Did your sarcasm meter blow? :p

So a guy walks into a bar where he sees George Bush and Dick Cheney drinking and talking quietly amongst themselves.

The guy asks the bartender "Is that who I think it is? What are they doing in a place like this?"

The bartender responds "Yeah, that's George W. and Dick Cheney. They're here because they're planning World War III"

The guy responds, "Really. I want to know what their plan is. I suppose I should go ask them."

So the guy walks over to George and Dick and asks "I hear you're planning World War III. What's your plan?"

Cheney responds "Yes, we're going to kill 140 million Muslims and 1 blond chick from California with big boobs."

The guy replies, "Why do you have to kill the blond chick?"

George responds, "See? I told you no one would give a crap about the 140 million Muslims."

If you let out too much back-pressure you can actually hurt your performance, IE a 4 inch exhaust system on a Integra.

you'd be surprised the kind of people I deal with. I've had people swear like their life depended on it that back pressure was a good thing.

One of my friend's told me that cars have hood scoops to vent hot air...now guess why...because he said since hot air rises, it lifts the front of the car up and therefore takes traction away from the front end.

One of the kids here tells me he had a skyline a while ago, and he had headers (on a twin turbo car) and had the diverter valves delayed "so he didn't have turbo lag". Completely ignoring the fact that if he's diverter valves didn't open at full boost and that throttle body slams shut and that 20psi has nowhere to go then his little turbo is going to go from about 180,000rpm to 0rpm in the blink of an eye...and of course he just told me it was alright because he shifted so fast the throttle body didn't have time to close...even though the principal still applies if he goes full boost then just lets off the gas quickly. Plus as far as I know the diverter valve is strictly mechanical (i.e. a spring) and you can't really 'delay' a spring.

Or the kid who told me the reason a 'cold air intake' increases horsepower is because cold harder is harder to compress. Which doesn't even begin to make sense on ANY level.

The most recent was the guy who told me that a '99 A4 (1.8t motor) couldn't make 300hp without SERIOUS internal work. I just told him the APR Stage III kit gives you about 320hp with NO internal work, just bolt ons. Then somehow we got onto the topic of a stock 1.8t and he said it made 180hp, and I said, "no the '99 makes 150" and his friend says, "no it makes 180hp...you don't know anything about audi's do you?" At which point I got to roll off the history of the 1.8t about how the first 1.8t made 150hp with the small-valve head, and VW didn't create the 180hp model until '00-'01, but that doesn't matter because the A4 didn't even get that version 1.8t they got the 170hp model and not even that until 2001. The only audi that came with the 180hp 1.8t was the TT and it also came with a 225hp version as well.

yay! No that's no back pressure, it's called scavenging. Exhaust isn't constant, it comes in little burst as each exhaust valve opens. The idea is to get the exhaust out with as tight a 'seal' and with as little turbulence as possible. The 'seal' is basically since moving air creates low pressure, as the exhaust moves out, it creates a slight vacuum behind it which creates like a little train of exhaust gas. If the piping is too big, not only is their improper scavenging but also very turbulent air. This is why having too large an exhaust pipe is ALMOST as bad as having one too small.

I must admid xcel, the people you talk to sound less intelligent then me with cars, and I'm not smart at all. But damn if I didn't know what a hoodscoop was for, or the cold air intake. :p Some people are stupid...

It must be coincidence my hood scoops falls onto my intercooler then, eh?

cold air intake is for the ac. duh you idiot.

I tried to get him to imagine a single person standing in a wicker basket and how large a hot AIR balloon is required to pick it up. The heat built up under your hood, if the motor was on fire, could almost maybe pick up a small styrofoam cup....barely.

He just told me stfu and that he'll trust the engineers at <insert tuning company> over me.

and here's some fun facts!
"A cubic foot of air weighs roughly 28 grams (about an ounce). If you heat that air by 100 degrees F, it weighs about 7 grams less. Therefore, each cubic foot of air contained in a hot air balloon can lift about 7 grams. That's not much, and this is why hot air balloons are so huge -- to lift 1,000 pounds, you need about 65,000 cubic feet of hot air."

Pitz. I hate you. Give me your other RX-7 so that I can turn it into an AutoX car...

theres a song about cars by gary numan. give it a listen some day because i kid you not, it perfectly encapulates what being a car owner is all about. its poetic

Does it include sledge hammers, cliffs, and fire? ;(

That's how quickly they wear out.

He should have got a decent japanese sports car like a toyota mr2 turbo.
I have one of the newer (2000) MR2 Spyders. I blew the engine (my fault) so I just got it replaced along with....

ACT racing clutch
Fizanda Flywheel (8.2lbs versus 18 stock)
Motor mount inserts
Gutted pre-cats (mostly to prevent engine failure)

I was racing a 350z two days ago. Not only did I jump ahead straight off the line, but I got another little jump ahead when we hit second. The motor mount inserts allow for faster/smoother shifting & add the racing clutch to that. My tires even broke lose in second...first time I really pushed my car since I got it back. I think that was mostly driving skill, because I'm fairly certain they have a better HP/Weight ratio (I should look it up).

I love burning out in second gear. So fun, ;) Cheddarrrs Bug burns the tires on first real nice, second, and third if he tries hard enough :p

The first time I really drove a RWD car and put the car through its pacing was my friends 376whp 240. Fun as hell hit second gear and the rear end goes a bit sideways. Got me liking RWD even more after that, I wish he would've put C16 in and turned up the boost :(

Shh.. :p i needs to slap a turbo on that bitch instead of boring it out more :cat:

Oh man, too bad you couldn't have had video. That woulda been awesome.

Haha, you could just get an RX7 for 700 bux and slap a turbo on THAT...

hehe, i just bought a 2004 rx8, wanna race?

Lol my 96 Mustang will burn in first then it drops out of it in second... It roasts the tires easier in reverse:frown:

But the 02 Mustang is much better, I can burn from first gear to third... and when I floor it it breaks loose a little when I shift, but it's not bad for an almost stock V6.

I know I keep going on about my girlfriend, but how many people do you know with a 6 second car that wheelstands for 300 feet?
