Does anyone else have use VOIP in their home? I've heard that its starting to become more popular through companies like Vontage, but I hear they're charging like $30-$50 a month for it. I've been using a company called Packet 8, and they charge $20 a month, and you get free long distance calling, plus all the goodies you would have to pay extra for from a traditional land line. There are a couple downsides though... you HAVE to have broadband internet, and if your power or cable goes out, so does your phone. That and I think being able to call 911 costs an extra $5 or so (but even then, you're still paying the same or less than even a BASIC land-line). I also get echoes sometimes, but that's fairly rare. IMO, only paying $20/mo for unlimited long distance at ANY time is worth the hassles. Soooo if you're interested, PM me or something because I can get you a referal that will give BOTH of us a month's free service.

Mods, sorry if this is considered advertising... but I don't work for them, and I consider this more "passing on valuable info" :)
