In denmark i dont think there is really many that have tried it!!!
Great game!!!

I played Gothic II and it is alright. I found the controls to be a bit frustrating, more so coz they're not customisable.

i played gothic 1 and 2 and in both i found the controls such a pain in the arse that i stopped playing and destroyed it :p

My favorite RPG of all time.

The controls? Horrid. Graphics? Sub par at best. Voice acting? Translated by Brits trying to sound American. Physics? Retarded as hell. RPG complexity? Stuipidly simple. Here's the damage formula for the Gothic series. (Strength + Weapon Damage) - (Armor) = Damage Delt. If your combined strength and weapon is lower than the armor, then you simply do no damage. Which I think is cool, because in most RPG's, even if you're level one you still can take a few hit points off of an incredibly armored foe. But I think it's more realistic in Gothic since NPC's don't insane health, they just have better armor.

Why do I play Gothic? The world feels alive. It's that simple.

I loved Gothic for the very same reason. No game since has managed to create such a complete living, breathing world where your actions really do affect the world around you. Especially if you beat the crap out of them and took all their stuff.
That's also another feature I loved. The fact that if you beat somebody you don't have to kill them, they just lay on the ground unconscious and wake up after a while, unless you stab them when they're down.
And the 'do anything go anywhere' formula of Gothic worked so well, which has also failed in many games. It was way better than Morrowind.

only about 10 months left until Gothic 3 arrives ...

You make me want TES:4 :(
Why can't it come out and come with a free $5,000 computer and only cost $10!!!

It's a shame Atari decided to sit on the English translation of the Gothic II addon. Now we'll have to settle for a shitty third party translation mod.
