So I have a Nvidia 8600 M for my new laptop. It runs great and all but i'm a little concerned how it idles at 74 degrees Celsius and when i'm playing a game, it will peak at around 94 degrees Celsius.

The fan doesn't kick in until about 96 degrees Celsius at which point it will try and cool the GPU to about 91. I heard that there was a way to get the fan to start up a lot earlier, but I can't figure out how to do it through the Nvidia control panel for the life of me.

I have also heard that you can download programs to make the fan start whenever you wish. I am using Vista and I tried using Rivatuner, but that program uses the registry to change the fan settings, and Vista doesn't allow any of that kinda stuff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure of any program. sorry

If the mobile version is like the desktop part then 94C shouldn't damage the GPU. Although it's up there. hehe
I think they can go up close to 115C depending on the model. Of course if you see artifacts then it's too high as well.
