How does making a game exclusive make a company a "sell out"?

Because they are making everybody who wants to play the game buy a $199 ps2. What about GC owners or Xbox poeple? or even pc gamers? why cant we play it? Why is it sooo neccessary for them to pressure car fans to by a ps2 to play it? I may be wrong, but i thought developers were supposed to make games for gamers, not for a specific console to cash in on and make an exclusive deal with sony inorder to get a huge check from them.

They didn't include the 2005 Corvette C6!!! What are they thinking! They put in the 2005 Ford Mustang and not the Corvette?! I'm so disappointed.

Last time I check the who reason behind a company was to make money. Game developers are in it for the money just as any other business is. If they can make more money by giving exclusive rights to Sony then that's the obvious choice. Welcome to the wonderful world of Capitalism.

But logic tells me they would make more money if the game was released for multiple platforms. The amount of people who buy PS2 just to play GT4 won't probably outdo the amount of people who don't want to spend $200 on a new console.

Yay...714 cars...10 of which'll be used.

JAY LENO:

Maybe not now, but what if they had drawn up a contract around the first game saying their next titles will be exclusive for Sony consoles. Back then when there was only PS and N64 it was probably more profitable.

150, opposed to GT2s 400, which dissappointed me, this is gonna be so great.:)

hellya is what im thinkin
I was so extremely disapointed with the amount of cars and size of GT3 that i felt I had been tricked into buying a PS2.

they even took out(my car) the Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo (GS-T) that was included with GT1 and GT2

I can't wait for GT4.
Gran Tourismo is my favorite series of all time.
I pre-ordered it like 5 months ago man. It comes out on my birthday coincidentally

that is cuz the companyes make contracts

or explain why Halo games are not in PS2 and GC

cuz microsoft make a contract whit bungie studios, even miscrodoft buyed the company to hav Halo only in theyr prodcuts

sure the same happens whit GT4

anyway are a lot of people whit PS2 like me

Dude, GT was first released as a PS1 game, and it's also a SONY game (made by polyphony digital) so do stop whining because Halo is a MICROSOFT game and isn't on the SONY PS2. If you want the good exclusive games then you should of bought a PS2 in the first place.

Yeah but some times companies like Ferrari don't want their cars in some games, and also i think they have been contracted to only a few games and can't break that contract. NFS is an EA game. EA have money growing out their ass, so they could offer Ferrari alot!.

The ammount of people that have a PS2 is enough to keep it PS2 only. Not to mention, if anyone wants a driving game worth playing thats good, they got no choice but to fork out £140 for a PS2 and GT4.
