:cheers: Okay, this is for braggin' rights sorry, but I am soooo happy! My Earthlink DSL SPEED IS NOW RATED TO BE 3.0 MBPS!!! OMG SHIT IS BLAZING FAST!!! I download at rates of 306-320 KBPS!!!! CHEER I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!

I got 3mbps cable and my downloads are bout 360-450kbps
 
:dozey: Yeah, correction. I just tested my speeds, I think it's really rated 2.5 MBPS, hehe. Oh well better than 1.5 MBPS
 
I hate you all, my 56k modem (28.8 max connect, shitty phone lines) is crying right now. God I ahte you dial-up, i'm gonna kill you and your sister long-distance.
 
Yeah, that sucks for you NJD2003. We can all play Counter-Strike with ~30 ping and not ever worry about lag... isn't life grand, fellas? :D
 
I uped my 0.5Mbits to 8Mbits a few weeks ago... only cost me like 3 bucks extra per month.... aha!

776KB/s is my speed record at the moment.

3mbps = 375kb/sec.

If you're getting over that, you're lying. Or you're mistaken that your cable is capped at 3mbps :)
 
I've never had a problem with 0.5mbps, but we might upgrade to 2mbps soon. The thing to remember for me is, mine is 100% free, so I can't complain!

Mine is capped at 2560 Kbit/s (320 KB/s) , but I have no problem getting over that. An no it has nothing to do with faulty measurement or cached files. :)

Odd, I bitched and complained about 56k for years, and now 256k is finally available and I don't want it. Aint life funny.
 
i've gotten from 250-450 kbps, and the max i've ever downloaded was when i was downloadeing a fifteen megabite file in 1.5 mbs, it took like 7 seconds to finish, which i had that speed consistently
 
Wow, all of you have really fast internet connections. I've the 1MBps connection, which is fast enough, but for the sake of internet gaming i'm going to upgrade to 2.0MB, or faster, if the price is good.

I download at 3 k/ sec! :cheers: What makes me mad though is in Japan you can get 100mbps down/ 1 mbps up connection for $41 a month. Here, cable is $55 a month for 3 down, 256k up. :flame:

3Mbps = 393,216 Bps... not 375,000 Bps

Remember, in computers, mega is 1048576 and kilo is 1024.

Kinda useless to have such speed when you cant use it (more than downloading linux dists from your internet backbone). I rather have a full duplex line with the same speed both directions than just a fast download. Too bad they live on the wrong side of the planet those japanese people :)

i say boo to this thread. I have 56k and i can't afford to spend like £30 a month to get a half decent broadband connection. Any UK people want to show what a moron i am and tell me about a cheap broadband without dumb restrictions is more than welcome.

www.cpbb.co.uk do quite a cheap DSL deal.
www.bulldogdsl.com is slightly cheaper but they have a slightly confusing product line up.

Actually, from articles ive read, the japanese keep complaining for faster upload speeds because they cant "video teleconference" very well. Talk about greedy...they dont know how good they got it! :rolleyes:
