Hey guys, I just bought a ATI Radeon AIW 9800 pro and once i got it running it does some stupid thing in source and same in hl2. Im guessing its not rendering fully or something? Not a real pro at this stuff so I am wondering if you guys have any solutions since theres always many questions asked here.

Here is a picture of what im talking about

Also in the console it has some red writing so maybe this will help

Thanks for your time guys!

hmm, first off, im no big expert, but it could point at several things.

The AIW cards apparently produce more heat than non-AIW cards, so make sure theres some kind of ventilation. Also you might want to fiddle with various settings, such as AGP 8x to 4x (hardly any performance difference at all, to improve stability), Fast-Writes on or off, and maybe re-installing css may do something, if you haven't already.

As for the console bits, i can't determine the source of that problem.

lol wait for some other more experienced guys to look at it.

BTW u tried the latest drivers? There are always fixes coming out. 4.12 as far as i know.

Well i got it....it was a driver update that worked.....I guess it downloaded the wrong one.

I got a different question though.....I seem to be lagging quite a bit now, could this be from the video card or just something else?

do you mean framerate slow down or internet lag?

Its both I guess, its like on certain maps though, I seem to get huge lag when im looking around along with a lot of choke and poor framerate but when i look at the ground its all fine.

Any ideas??

did u uninstall the previous drivers before installing the new ones? how much ram do you have?

I have a gig of ram and no I dont think i did, not quite sure where to do that since it doesnt show uninstall anywhere.

whats the rest of your specs? have you tried to change some settings? and make sure your card is in all the way maybe take it out and put it back in..i know that helped a few ppl before

That might be it. Go to add remove programs, uninstall EVERYTHING with ATI or Nvidia in it. Then go to device manager and under graphic cards uninstall your graphic card. Then reboot, reinstall the drivers and reboot.

Then call back to us if it didn't fix it :P

AMD Athlon 2800
AIW 9800
gig ram
sound blaster live sound card
60 gig hardrive

hmm it may be a driver thing then, but it could still point at other areas. Such as background applications taking up ram/processor usage.

Well thnks for the help guys, I try to fix this thing out. I did notice that my card cant take the high setting for some reason. It was on high and when i put it on medium it all got fixed. But anyways thnks for ur help all.
