I know this problem was talked about here just the other day but i cannot find the thread. I just built my new PC today:

AthlonXP 3000+
1 gig pc3200 DDR RAM
Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo
Saphhire 9800 pro 128 mb
Windows XP pro
3.7 Catalyst drivers

...and i constantly get these incredibly annoying graphic glitches. They look sort of like articfacts you'd get in 3d games when your PC is over-heating or something. I know over-heating is not the case here. It happens right from the first minute that i turn on the PC and i have plenty of air cooling and good air flow. Is this a known problem with the 9800 Pros and is their a fix for this??

Thanks

the first minute, so it stays like that? or does it go away... if it goes away after the first minute, why care!

if u just built this computer ( all those parts look like there compable with each other ) r u sure the bios settings are all in line how they should be?

Make sure nothing is shorting the card out. Id tie up all your loose molex power connectors.
Power supply have enough watts to power that sucker? Over 300 watts and a decent brand?
Just wondering because if its right when everything is powering on, it may draw enough power to make your card short on power.

probably a bad card. if its like that now it will only get worse. return it.

It stays like that.

And yes, i believe as far as i know all the settings are correct. I didnt change much in the bios, just CPU multiplier.

It's the card. If Radeon didn't make it, it's not really a 9800. How much did you pay for the card? I bet is wasn't $300. Saphhire take the 9800PRO and downgrades it, then they sell it for cheaper. So you're really getting a G-Force.

no not really, because ive got a hercules 9800 pro, before wen i had my geforce i only got 150 3dmarks but now i have the new card, with no changed to my cpu at all i get 5000. dont tell me that that is just a geforce.

I have a saphhire 9800 pro and I sometimes get what look like artifacts in certain games at random points in levels for short periods of time. I'm not really bothered because they go away and only appear on some games.

my only suggestion is to try the omega drivers or just wait for Ati's next drivers.

saphhire makes a very good radion 9800 pro, I dont know what you are talking about(and I'm fairly sure you dont either).

and "radion" doesnt make any cards, your thinking of ati.

as I said up there ^, its a bad card. return it, and then replace it with another of the same.

/me takes some LSD and joins DiCampli in the world where snails fly and bunny rabbits fish for tins of fruit

Why do people make stuff up?

All Retal ATI gfx cards, ATI or 3rd party company that just uses ATI's chips, are the same. OEM ATI gfx cards, 3rd party or ATI, are allowed to underclock. OEM parts do not come in the fancy box with the logo like you see at Best Buy and they have no manufacture warranty.

SPC DiCampli, that was the biggest load of B.S. i've ever heard...LMAO...congrats man. Anyways i'm going to contact Sapphire's tech support tomorrow about this and if it is truly a defective card then i'll be exchanging it for a new one. Thanks for the replies and if anyone else has anymore good advice please feel free to post it. =)

Hahaha!! Hey, does somebody want to trade his Saphire 9800 for my GeforceTi4200? lol

the only company that makes a BAD radion 9800 pro is powercolor, I would avoid them.
