Graphical Artifacts CS:S

ok, so im getting some odd artifacts, including some Pink+black checkerboards, and skins not loading, and isntead just looking black and glittery. I used steams Varification programs, but they would not fix this. on Video stress test, the CT's are just white outlines, and the rotating plaques in the beginning are just "ERROR" rotating around.
I just deleted "local game content" from the steam menu of HL2 and CS:S but apparently it is not a "Clean" re-load beause it started downloading at about ~70%. Anyways, any fixes or ideas what happend?

My CS:S also has the red "ERROR" the video stress test. As far as that goes, I have heard that it is an error with Valve that I'm guessing they will fix soon. I don't get any of those other errors though, so I'm not sure.

teh errors everyone gets if they have CS installed, im concerned w/ the checkerboards... they are showing up in the menu now too, and my models... people look black , and glittery.

I had that problem, but with every game along with cs:s. I found out it was my video card crapping out on me. I bought a new one and that fixed everything. I bought a new one because of that and my games crashing (due to overheating).

ummm any suggestions on a fix outher than buying a new card?

The checkerboard is the default texture, which means it's having problems displaying the textures - either it's a problem with the cache files or with your video card.

not relly concerned with the checkerboard... more with the player skins being black... Ill post a Screen shot... hold on...

They also tend to flash red or blue now and then.

also note that i have tried the cache file checkers of steams...
I have no problem running HL2, CS, CS:CZ.
