My father bought this movie for me as a gift, on a recommendation from a store woman and it was amazeing its a true story about firebombings of Japan (wwII) from a boy and his younger toddler sister I never get mushy about tragadys and I nearly cried and from an anime none of the less it's one of those movies that makes you realize how awful war is and that nobody is innocent in a war and nobody is left untouched...... anyways before you call me a crybaby pussy see the movie and for those who have aint it amazin...

I saw the movie, and I'm not calling you a crybaby.
I think all the "war-mongerers" in the higher brass of our government should watch this movie, it's truly devastating.

It's okay, it's good to show some feeling.
I was watching Star Wars Episode II and when Anakin's mother died right in front of him all bloody and beat up, I started to cry, but didn't make much of a sound.

I haven't seen it, ill take a look, i've always thought about how the civillians are the one's that suffer from their goverments actions..

yeah, great movie.. i cried. probably the saddest movie i've seen, certainly one of them anyway. i should buy that special edition dvd.. is that what you got? is the commentary good?

War is hell.
Hell is the total lack of reason.
The constant of human history is war.

Welcome to hell people. Try to make the best of it.

/me cry when Trevor went missing in Secret Weapons over Normandy for the Xbox...It was good to play together...until he died!! wawawwwawaw

I started crying when Fat Morpheus gave his speech to Zion in Matrix 2. Crying because I couldn't believe Fat Morpheus was ruining what could have been the greatest trilogy of all time less than half an hour into film 2. Wow, what a waste. Screw you Fat Morpheus, and screw those cross-dressing arrogant Wachowski dipshits who are tooooo cool to give even 1 interview in the last 6 years.

Sorry about that...anyway...Grave of the Fireflies is indeed awesome. I think its really considered sort of a pinnacle in Anime. Really conveys the devastation caused by the firebombing of Japanese cities during WW2. The firebombings were FAR more grisley and devastating than the A-bombs dropped, yet they are hardly ever talked about.

I encourage you all to see Grave of the Fireflies and ya I got the special I addition I havnt taken a look at the bonus disk however probably will tonight

w00t, sorry to dig up this old thread, but i just bought this movie and it's better than starting a new one. anyway, i wanted to say that i don't think this movie is really a true story, it's apparently based mainly on the personal memory of the author of the book. he was about seita's age when he was orphaned during the bombings of kobe (his family was scattered and or killed). but the brother/sister story of GotF is more of a dramatization based on his experience, not a true story per se.

anyway, the bonus features are pretty cool, i wish all DVDs had lot's o bonus material like this one. that said, it sucks that there isn't a feature-length commentary. to me, those are always the most interesting, and i think they should be standard on any DVD release :) especially if it's a "collector's edition" or some such thing.

I cried in Purple Rain when Princes dad shot himself and then when he played Purple Rain in the club and the manager of the club who was about to fire Prince started to shake his head in approvement I just lost it and started bawling.

You don't wanna be on the wrong side of America's military forces.

I cried when Guarnere got his leg blown off trying to help Joe in Bastogne in Band of Brothers.

I cried when that british commando commander didnt make it off the ship with me in CoD. We went through so much together... Actually I didn't cry but I did feel a little sad that he hadn't make it.

I cryed near the end of the third LOTR........I'm not sure why.......but I did.
