Great... Sept 11 is almost upon us again.

You gotta admit eleven-nine doesn't have quite the same ring as nine-eleven.

I think we should forget about 9/11, there really isn't anything we can do anymore, it's the same as crying over everyone who died in in the crusades.. You didn't know any of those people, why care? I mean, if you knew someone who was injured/killed in the attack, then ok, but I doubt anyone here was directly affected by 9/11.

lucky I live in australia

*Sydney harbor gets bombed*

OH THE HUGE MANTEE

Well, 9/11 was a very terrible thing, but the movies and shit all about it certainly get annoying.

Why do you guys put the month before the day, it just seems to disrupt the order.

It's the same way we write it.

September 01, 2008
9/01/2008

: points :
You disrupt the order.

Why do you write it that way?

It makes more sense to go day/month/year I think, or year/month/day.

Not as bad as day/year/month I suppose.

month/day/year is better.

.... Okay, it really doesn't make sense, but that's what we were taught.

September 1, 2008.

That is how it's written.

9/1/08

I actually found the whole speed with which the thing went from tragedy to acceptable material for dramatic interpretation deeply troubling tbh. Not that I subscribe to the notion of the acceptable face of the events being presented, but more that it was way, way too soon to do more than take stock of what happened. The idea that film companies made money off the misfortunes of people who died so soon....it's just plain wrong.

'Yeah it was amazing the way those planes hit the buildings like KAPOW and shit yeah'

Is eet just America running your massacre day specials? Australia is teh lucky, then.

It just seems like it is treated like a novelty.

Instead of devoting a slot of time with a remarkable tribute and remembrance, they turn it into an "all day event"(which often ends up also being the day before and after) that just seems to pound it in again and again and again and it makes me not want to watch TV the day before or the day after and of course the day of.
9/11 is part of American history, but so are 7/11s. :>

Srsly though, it was a terrible tragedy, but this will be one of those things that will stick to the history pages like the JFK assassination.

9/11 is going to turn into what Pearl Harbor is. A horrible occurrence that happened to America.

Sooner or later it's also going to be remembered the same way that Pearl Harbor is, just a little 30 second commercial saying, "OMFG it's 9/11 you should pray for the 2,000 people that were lost on that unfortunate day of tragedy. Now back to your regular broadcast."

So what i'm going to do on 9/11 is forgo all the bullshit and play some TF2.

Don't forget the "BUY OUR MINT CONDITION NEVER IN CIRCULATION METAL PLATED DOLLARS HOLY SHIT FOR $100,000 FORK IT UP YOU MAGGOTS JUST LOOK AT THIS SHIT THERE'S A 9 ON ONE SIDE AND AN 11 ON THE OTHER THAT ADDS UP TO 20 THIS IS 20 DOLLARS DO YOU GET THAT BUT YOU CAN'T SPEND IT JUST HANG IT UP THERE ON THE MANTLE YOU PRETENTIOUS ******S" commercials.

I saw my first coin commercial for 2008 last night. It was about 3 minutes long and as uninteresting as last years coin commercials. At least put forth the effort to make it appeal to a larger demographic. I want a 9/11 coin/pog slammer for starters. We could put terrorist faces on the pogs!

I'll be honest here and say, when 9/11 happened, I was quite young, at first I thought it was some kind of action film, just coming in and my mum turning on the TV to show the news bits, I didnt actually get to understand what was going on under I returned from my swimming lesson.

Seriously I was like 'Wow...look, this is the best bit...' when the replay of the second plane was shown...

I know...:| I'm going to hell :(

Yeah, see I referenced those in my original post. It's silver-leaf, and it's in Liberian currency, which means it's worth 31 cents. Not $20. A Liberian dollar is worth 0.01587 US dollars.
