GTA IV Episodic Content Exclusive to Xbox 360

A Take-Two spokesperson has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that the episodic content planned for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusively released for the Xbox 360.

Talk of an exclusive deal began following the release of Take-Two's Q2 financial report on Tuesday. The report stated that the episodic content would be released on 360 during the 2008 fiscal year - with no mention of PlayStation 3.

Now a company representative has told GI.biz, "The Grand Theft Auto IV episodic content is exclusive to Xbox 360."

The financial report also stated that fellow Take-Two title LA Noire is due out in fiscal 2008. The spokesperson suggested that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases are likely, stating, "LA Noire is being developed for next-generation systems."

GTA IV will launch on both consoles on October 19.

Who bets GTAIV will be Vista Exclusive?
 
I'm getting sick and tired of these exclusive deals. Imagine if all that money ms and Sony spend on exclusives went to developing better hardware or their own games.
What I'm even more sick of is the public rewarding them for it. I mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out these deals are not beneficial to the public.

Apart from dx9 being perfectly fine and having a much, much larger user base.
Why should I not be able to play dx9 game with dx9 hardware, and GTA is dx9, it is being developed for the xbox.
 
Gorgon, oh lets see, maybe the fact the majority of gamers are still on DX9 cards? I think that's a pretty decent reason.:)

I'll bet I'll have beaten GTA IV long before the first sign of EC is seen on Live.

Same with every game, there's yet to be any new content to get me back into a game. Oblivion included.

I see no reason why it shouldn't be included. The sales will be much higher if there's a DX9 option. Not many have got a DX10 capable card and Vista.
 
I've got a feeling the PC community will make their own Episodic Content and call them mods. :p
 
RJMC, wow, it's getting real tiresome everyone always putting it on money etc, sure, money rules the world so ofcourse it plays part, but the way some people try to portray Bill Gates as the ultimate ****ing evil is ****ing tiresome to me.

Agreed, Companies don't see it that way apart from Valve who alway run a survy to capture real time data of gamers Hardware. they trying to push people to spend more money on DX10 hardware (can people afford it? )/

for 64.61 pounds you can get DX10 hardware. :D

With Rockstar things rarely stay exclusive. GTA3, VC, and SA were all exclusive to PS2 ... for a couple years. Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories were PSP exclusives (and the reason many people bought the system) ... untill they got ported 9 months later. I'm guessing these will turn up on PS3 in a year or less, and will probably launch with the PC version at no extra cost.

The only "exclusive" Rockstar games I can think of are Bully and Table Tennis. The only reason Bully was exclusive was because the X-BOX was basically dead when it came out, and the PS3 hadn't even been released yet when Table Tennis came out.

And no, GTAIV will not be Vista exclusive. GTA games sell very well, even on PC. It would cost too much to buy Vista exclusivity, which is why MS could only get these online exclusives.

Is this episodic content going to be new levels/missions/areas, etc? Or new weapons, clothes and vehicles? If it's the latter than I couldn't care less for the content.

but it is all about money when it comes to these things. Why else would they shaft PS3 owners?

The thing is, Microsoft has enough money, and they know it. Sony does not. If Microsoft wipes out Sony (used to sound stupid, but not as of late..) They only have 1 other console to compete with, and I doubt they'll try to take out Nintendo.

First you have to realize, in Japan - Sony is Microsoft, it would take FAR more than losing exclusivity to put down Sony. Just like MS Sony can afford to have it's video game's section make record losses.

I could care less, I've yet to hear of any exclusive content that ever made me really interested. I'm getting the game on PS3 and really don't care if I get any extra content or not. Besides, if they make the game well enough, it won't matter.
 
This is why microsoft is gunna whoop the shit out of sony, they realize games are the most important thing to the gamer. Not some blue ray garbage
 
So? I dont see any problem with them paying Rockstars money, money makes the world go around, I bet if Sony had that kinda money to spare they'd do the same, afterall, they are COMPETITORS.

So let's compare.

PS3 = $600
Xbox360 = $480 for best version (Elite)

GTA4 $60 on both systems.

Only Xbox360 has exclusive content.

Good deal to me, and was probably worth the $50 mil MS paid for it.
 
Hell no, you could make 2 AAA titles for 50 mil.
I would much rather see MS fund a whole new IP then pay that much money for some shitty extra content.

Plus Sony is bringing some very cool things to the table with the eye toy.

And lets not forget home,littlebigplanet, and team ICO, sony Santa Monica. Sony does more then enough software wise.
 
Very cool use of eye toy. Seeing as i've crossed over to the evil side (again), i'm looking forward to actually playing some games on my PS3 rather than using it just as a Blu-ray player. Bring it on Sony - justify yourself!

Yes, Blu Ray must be garbage because it's by Sony, eh? Maybe that's why Blockbuster decided to support it exclusively. Or maybe that's why Universal is the only major movie studio exclusively supporting HD DVD, while there are several major studios exclusively supporting Blu Ray. Maybe it's crap because it will let people play games in full 1080p with incredibly high audio quality.


Get off it. Blu Ray should be embraced since it is a high definition format that will allow for larger, more complex games. Just like HD DVD would, you know, if it was actually used for games.
