Apparently the next installment of the GTA series is due out approx. a year from now...

GTA: London is expected to appear during Q4, 2006 (a full year away) and no PC or XBox 360 versions should be expected for at least 6 months following that.

but i dont think that i can wait till Q2 of 2007 for the PC release, i guess i can just break down and get it for the Xbox...
is anybody else waiting as impatient as i am for this one?

Hmm the top-down one was pretty poor in my view, hopefully it'll be alright in a city!

Well that was just an expansion pack really.
Looking forward to this though :)

Gah too long to wait...I'm just going to forget it for now...

Yeesh, What a time to announce it!

I'm going with Idonotbelonghere...
I'll push it off to the side for now... More important games to look forward to.

I've really enjoyed all GTA games thus far. However I'm not wetting my pants yet over any GTA title. I can easily wait for a PC version even then I might not get it. I have feeling Rockstar will hype me up later though.

Nope, PS2.

GTA: London will have a brand new engine built for the PlayStation 3 hardware and is expected to offer multi-threaded support and all the visual beauty that the G70 can handle.

:D ps3

By that time Duke Nukem Fornever will reach the halfway mark so we'll have that to look forward to! :D

Yay 600th post

GTA: London? I was wondering when those damn Americans making games would realise they are not the only country in the world! About time!

Ever notice that in movies it's always America that saves the world, or gets invaded by aliens, or the comet is going to hit them first? And the space-ships are always USS__________. BAH!

This is a first for the series since the previous London installment to feature a real city, is it not?

Noooes
the old GTA : London sucked :(
i hope they dont **** up with this one

You do know that the GTA developers are British, don't you? (Scotland, to be precise)

Aye, Rock* have chapters in Both Edinburgh and London, though it's the Edinburgh studios who make GTA.

Erm, they have no quoted sources or anything, and it's a site I've never even heard of... So why do I believe them?

Maybe it's because the americans make the majority of movies you watch? :)

Hm, I'd never heard The Inquirer being called respectable before :/ I know they make a lot of their "news" to get reader numbers, whether what they've said is true, or simply imflammatory.

A great thing for this version would be licensing as many cars as they can. I'm sure they could afford to splash out however many millions for the licenses since the game will sell like hotcakes.

The only thing is that some companies don't like their cars to be smashed or stolen in games so it might not happen. But it would be cool to steal a Peugeot 206 then ram it into something.

If this turns out to be true, over a years wait for the PC version?

Back burner for now

Its a rumor guys, and I don't really think its true.

Well, ‘Tis the season for rumors and speculation, and lately, we have seen our fair share. The latest rumor comes to us from an alleged Rockstar employee from Glasgow, Scotland and involves Grand Theft Auto. According to the source, the next title in the GTA series “will be titled Grand Theft Auto: London and will take place in the great city of London in 1997.”

If the info is to be believed, Rockstar will be doing away with the familiar 3 island system employed in the other GTA titles, in favor of a North, South, East, West system. The gangster theme is said to be making another appearance, as the character is an ex-gangster who starts in the East end of London, and can unlock the North End, South End and West End respectively. Current developmental focus is on the story line, as the game is approximately 60% completed, having the graphics and physics engines already completed.

The game is currently set to launch on the PS3 in Europe and North America in Q4 2006, so lets keep our fingers crossed. Again, none of this has been officially confirmed by either Rockstar or Sony, so take it with a grain of salt!

It may be based off of London (Like Liberty City/New York, Vice City/Miami, etc.) but none of the big GTAs have featured real cities, so I doubt they'll change now. I was wondering what unique cities were left for Rockstar to base the game off of(english speaking of course), and how they would change their 3 island system if they wanted to change to a more realistic system so those are some points to this rumor. However Rockstar North is in Edinburgh, not Glasgow, and the Gtagb site has nothing to do with Rockstar(its a mod http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=14). I'd say its bogus, but it could happen.

Meh, I'm not buying a PS3 just to play this game. I'll have to wait until it comes out for Xbox 360.

My former English teacher had scottish friend who was a developer for Rockstar.

I doubt this is true, but if it was I'd be quite pleased. Oh man, can you imagine all the awesome British actors who could be in it.

I think its unlikely that the next gen GTAs will come out on X360 and if it does, the experience wont be nearly as good. Not because Xbox 360 can't handle it, but because even upgrading liberty city to next gen graphics would go over the size of a DVD. While some people will say "I wouldn't mind getting up to switch the disk, you guys are lazy" in a generation that will be marked by streaming content instead of loading, you'll notice, and you will start to get annoyed. Games like RPGs are fine when theres disk changing because once you switch it, you don't have to go back, but in a free roaming world like in GTA you could just be coming from a disk change and then your next mission takes you right back in that direction and you have to switch the disk again and wait through a minute of loading. So I would say the PC and PS3 versions would be nicer to play, even if it comes out on X360.

No, I didn't know that. Well, that goes to show that all the brainwashing research done by America is really paying off. Soon the whole world will believe America is the centre of the universe.

Uhh, it was pretty common knowledge. No one ever claimed the people who made GTA were American. The freaking game says "whilst." WHILST! Only a Scottish man would say such a thing.
