Take2Games has today announced as part of its financial results that GTA: San Andreas will ship one week later than expected, to allow for final testing of the game.

The game will now be available on October 26th in North America and October 29th in Europe. It is not yet known if release dates will change for other territories, such as Australia/New Zealand, where the original release date was the 28th of October.

However, a small amount of good news comes in the form of a release date for the PC version of the game:

Additional products planned for fiscal 2005 from Rockstar Games include Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PC in the third quarter, as well as two new console titles based on proven brands from Rockstar's internal studios, in the third and fourth quarters. Rockstar also plans to release Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in Japan in fiscal 2005.
-- Take2Games Third Quarter Financial Results, 9th September, 2004

We're not joking, unfortunately, so PS2 owners can expect to be playing this October, and PC gamers will be having the fun sometime in April, May or June 2005.

Update: To silence a few rumours, Take2Games just confirmed that the price of the game will be $49.95 in the USA. Preorder numbers are "significantly higher" than Vice City's numbers at the same time in 2002. The Game Boy Advance version of GTA will carry an "M" rating from ESRB in North America.

Its only a week delayed, nothing major.

Las Venturra Info

Electronic Gaming Monthly - The Las Venturas Preview

Electronic Gaming Monthly, one of the USA's top gaming publications, has a new preview of San Andreas in its latest issue, November 2004. There's tons of new information about Las Venturas, and plenty of new screenshots along with it.

- There are plenty of casinos to gamble in, like the V-Rock Casino, styled like the Hard Rock Cafe. Other Casinos include "The Visage", "Pirates in Men's Pants", "Caligula's Palace" and "The Pink Swan".
- While in a casino, there are a variety of minigames available to play, such as Blackjack, Video Poker, Wheel of Fortune, Slots and Craps.
- Elvis Presley impersonators are present in Las Venturas for a little bit of drunken humor.
- The famous Las Vegas cowboy sign is included in San Andreas, but features Avery Carrington (of Vice City Fame) instead.
- A giant Candy Suxx statue adorns the exterior of one of Las Venturas' buildings.

the bitches will be whining about that week, you know... while i await the Xbox version cause the PS2 versions of GTA always suck compared to the Xbox or PC version and playing on a PC isn't fun so kinda leave me 1 choice

The delay wasn't this long for Vice City was it??

Oh well, at least it is coming to the PC. I'll buy it then.

XBox nore any of its over hyped mediocre games (especially Halo 2) are barely suitable enough to wipe ones ass with.

That is becase you aren't suppose to wipe your ass with a plastic box...dumbass. Mediocre? So you are saying 99% of game reviewers were tricked into giving halo good ratings? And all the fans?

April doesn't sound too bad, I could live with april
Ahhhh...no complaining :)

Even though I liked Vice City substantially better on PC, I still think I will find myself using any reason I can think of to go play it at the homes of all of my friends who have PS2's, and will be buying the game the day it comes out :p

This game doesn't has as much hype behind it as Vice City, this just looks like Vice city w/ new skins.

Why do consoles come first. If you're going to make a game for console and PC. It should be released for PC first seeing thats what your making the game on.

Do they mean Q3 in their fiscal year or Q3 in the calender year?

are they just mass-producing new GTA titles now? yeesh...

It's been 2 years since VC, a reasonable amount of time for a sequel. Also, it adds a lot more to the base formula than most sequels do. As long as they keep the quality up then I have no problem with the amount of titles they produce. Quality is better than quantity but both quantity and quality is even greater.

I'm not saying they're bad games, but GTA3 and GTA:VC were pretty similar and such, small update featurewise in VC, the plot and missions are cool but I'd like some more cool features I guess. I dunno. They could all stand to look a little bit dissimilar at least.

and I was commenting on the fact that san andreas hasn't come out and they're already showing las venturas?

I thought Las Venturas was one of the cities in San Andreas? Am I way off here?

Yeah it was - for both Vice City and GTA3, the wait's been about 6 months.

Cybersheep is mistaken. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a state. It consists of three cities, Las Venturra, Los Santos and San Fierro. In between the cities there is 12 small villages, which some of them are countrysides and a mountain called, Mt Chiliad - which if half-a-mile tall (the biggest object ever in a GTA game).

The delay for Vice City was about 2 weeks if I recall correctly.

The sheer scale of this game sounds mind-boggling.

Wow, I have to agree on that. And if I know Rockstar well enough, we can all trust them to make this game very true to the early-mid 90s feel. :)

I think the game will be great, but I'm really worried about the size. I really hope that they're not taking the bigger is better mentality. Bigger certainly is better if they can maintain the same level of quality throughout the state, but that seems like an extremely hard task.

Look at games like True Crime. The city is humongous, possibly even larger than SA, but it might as well just be about 10 square blocks. Everything looks the same, the textures, buildings, objects, etc. are all recycled infinitely throughout the map. As far as I know, the only way you could ever possibly tell where you were is if there was a landmark nearby (of which there are few, its mostly just the same copy/pasted city blocks). That was extremely dull, and I'm sure Rockstar won't be anywhere near that bad. But I would much prefer another city the size of Liberty or Vice City rather 3 watered down cities and a bunch of open, useless land inbetween them.

Then again, I have never been disappointed by a GTA game, so they'll probably handle it well.

Have they mentioned the soundtrack yet?? Since it's early 90's they better have some grunge like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden. If they don't, i'll KILL THEM ALL. I think they're based in Leith, Edinburgh which would be like a 15 minute drive for me.

Or maybe I won't kill them, i'll just steal their cars instead, that'd be funnier.

GTA TRIVIA: There is a golf course in VC called "Leaf Links". IRL there is a place called "Leith Links" in Edinburgh where you can whack a golf ball or take your dog to do a crap.

Talking about the comparisions. The Casino's in Las Venturra are based on real-life Casino's:

Caligula's Palace = Ceasar's Palace
The Visage = The Mirage
Pirates in Men's Pants = Treasure Island
The Pink Swan = The Flamingo

By the way, the name 'Pirates in Men's Pants' is a humorous take on the famous musical Pirates of penzance.'

Also, the Mirage was one of the casinos in that Oceans 11 film.

Yeah, I was thinking that aswell, but wasn't too sure. Good film though, got it on DVD.:D

Those shots look like crap.

For a moment, I was getting damned impressed with the GBA.
