GTA: San Andreas Hits PC AND XBox

December 16, 2004 - Rockstar Games let the good news fly today, announcing that its mega-hit Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will arrive on ox and PC on June 7 in North America. Euro-gamers will receive the fifth game in the series June 10, 2005.

GTA:SA with higher resolution graphics, ummmmmm....

Good luck playing a game in June that I beat 2 weeks ago. If you can then I highly recommend picking up the PS2 version, the minor graphical changes aren't going to matter too much when you're playing. And for PC standards the game still won't look very good ... it isn't even up to par with most major PS2 games.

Actually, since GTA3 and GTA:VC looked about 20 times better on the PC, I think SA will follow suit. Not only that, but there are all kinds of great mods that come out for the PC version, the most popular being a wide array of cars. PLUS, you can tweak handling for all cars, letting you create the ultimate supercar that goes 0-60 in .002 seconds and all kinds of other good shiet. :E

Sony are a great company and I like everything they make. Now however that I have a computer far more powerful than any console on the market. I've never thought of getting one.

I do wish Ps2 emulators would hurry up allready on the other hand.

1. Thanks for the luck, we'll need it.
2. I have a ps2, but I'm not wasting my money on a crappy ps2 version.
3. Minor graphical changes. If you mean upping the resolution by double what it is on the ps2, plus addition graphical enhancements, then I guess thats what you consider minor.
4. Yes, because you know the game won't look good on the PC because you've played it...silly me.
5. Like i said, you have played the pc version, so you would know. Even tho gta 3 and vc for pc blew away the ps2 versions. I'm sure they'll be spending the next 7 months doing absolutely nothing and finding ways to make the pc version crappier than the pc version. Good logic though. :cheers:

No doubt about it! I was very upset when the GTA series went to the console with the third incarnation. But thankfully the ports, while painfully slow to come, have been spectacular. They feel like a PC game, not a PS2 game hastily converted.

I have SA on my PS2.... but i might just have to sell my PS2 copy and get the X-box version... and after that i may sell the X-box version and buy it for my PC.... then i'll complain that my Gamecube is being left out ;(

I've got one it's excellent after your initial setup. Exactly like a ps2 controller except ofcourse the buttons are numbered 1234 instead of the square, circle, trigangle and X

I feel the opposite is true. While initially a pc game, GTA has always been a console title at heart - and is best played with a joypad and a few mates.

I remember how much fun playing the original was, crowding around a monitor and passing a crappy 3rd party joypad around

Playing it on a big tv, with good joypads and sitting on a sofa is better, much better.

I own both GTA3 and VC on the pc and XBox - the Xbox version plays better (needs a joyapd and, more importantly, needs to be designed to be played with a joypad. Playing the pc version with a pad is a poor substitute), looks better (more detailed textures than the pc version) and feels better (big sprawling cities .... as opposed to tiny models of big sprawling cities. Big tv makes GTA come alive)

When in all technical matter, alot of emulators can run Ps2 games and well.... lol a ps2 faster than my pc? No no! A ps2 faster than my old Hp!
