GTA: San Andreas Hits PC AND XBox

IMO PC > console GTA

i've completed GTA: VC for the PS2 twice, and i loved it. But playing the game on a PC actually makes it a whole new experience- and mainly because of the resolution. i can actually SEE the icons on the map now! plus the controls feel better than the PS2 for some reason, for everything except the helicopter.

*note* I do have a crappy small telivision, so maybe GTA looks better on larger teliviosions >.<

good point, ill play sa then think about getting a controller. aiming on computer > aiming on console

Not so much that - the pc version doesn't cater for joypad aiming (no auto aim)

Using a pad is fine with the console versions (and superior imo)

1. Thanks for the luck, we'll need it.
2. I have a ps2, but I'm not wasting my money on a crappy ps2 version.
3. Minor graphical changes. If you mean upping the resolution by double what it is on the ps2, plus addition graphical enhancements, then I guess thats what you consider minor.
4. Yes, because you know the game won't look good on the PC because you've played it...silly me.
5. Like i said, you have played the pc version, so you would know. Even tho gta 3 and vc for pc blew away the ps2 versions. I'm sure they'll be spending the next 7 months doing absolutely nothing and finding ways to make the pc version crappier than the pc version. Good logic though.

Calm the hell down, I was just saying it's not worth waiting to get a slightly improved version if you have a PS2 now and can buy it. The only graphical improvements made to the game is an increase in resolution, and even then the game still will not look good. The cars, people, and cities have low polygon counts and the textures won't be extremely high res if it follows in the tracks of GTA3 and VC. Graphically this is a poor game, it doesn't even look that great for PS2 standards.

Not to mention I'd rather play it on PS2 anyway. The cars handle much better and the shooting is far too easy with a mouse and keyboard, it also probably won't be as tactical and there won't be as much of a need to use cover if you can sit there and just pick them off. You have a point about the mods though, there are some pretty cool car models, although I didn't notice much else.

And please tell me how the PC versions of GTA3 and VC "blew away" their PS2 counterparts? It's the exact same game with a more simplified aiming system and higher resolution.

And custom soundtracks, and more stunning worlds.

and you could change the main character's skin (a feature added to the PC version of Vice City)... or mod anything else in the game (well, without the support of Rockstar Games).

I'll give you custom soundtracks, although I personally think it ruins the feel of the game. As far as more stunning worlds ... it's the exact same world in a higher resolution, that's hardly a gigantic leap forward.

Also, I mentioned the mods earlier. The skins and car model replacements are a nice option, certainly the biggest draw of the PC versions. Although, that too is relatively minor and I probably wouldn't mess with that until long after I had completed the game.

I'm wondering, do you prefer any games on the PC? ;)

Online shooters :) and rts. Everything else on consoles :) (except the occasional rpg)

Would you rather pay $50 now, play a less visually impressive game, and quit playing after you finish the game... or would you rather wait a few months, pay the same amount, play a better-looking game, be able to use a mouse for aiming, and have the ability to mod it (or just play other peoples' mods) in order order to get more life out of your game? Some people, like me, would prefer go with the latter. If you don't, that's your opinion. Don't tell people what they should do with their hard-earned (or begged-for) money... as some people have been doing in this thread.

Oh, and no load times other than the initial load, which took like 8 seconds. The worlds are more stunning with AA, some nicer reflections of the sun andhuge draw distances.

I would rather pay $50 now and play the game, beat it, and move on. I have a nice computer and a PS2 and that was the option I was given, and I'm very happy with the choice I made. The only way I would debate it is if it was a simultaneous release. To me, the ease of mouse/keyboard controls destroyed the combat of VC and GTA3 on PC. Sure the targeting system could be frustrating, but it usually worked and provided a better challenge. And I finished SA awhile ago and I still play it, I don't see how the replay would be extended much by swapping out a few car models every now and then.
