This is a few things Ive copied from moddb.com... It definetly shows what game is gonna be #1! Direct link: http://games.moddb.com/

Deus Ex 2 has a total of 1 registered mod.

Max Payne 2 has a total of 6 registered mods. Only 6!!?? :sniper: :dork:

Far Cry has a total of 8 registered mods.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein has a total of 10 registered mods.

Call of Duty has a total of 11 registered mods.

Soldier of Fortune II has a total of 17 registered mods.

Doom III has a total of 18 registered mods. lol!

Star Wars: Jedi Knight II has a total of 23 registered mods.

Medal Of Honor has a total of 24 registered mods.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter has a total of 25 registered mods.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has a total of 28 registered mods.

BattleField 1942 has a total of 45 registered mods.

Unreal Tournament 2003 has a total of 184 registered mods. Thats nice

Half-Life 2 has a total of 290 registered mods. Pwned! :naughty:

Half-Life has a total of 504 registered mods. <-- OMG w00t! Alot of those will probably become HL² mods when it comes (In april!!!!111!!) :smoking:

Nice find there.

That just shows that Valve and Half-Life's reputation is the driving force for the sequel's mod community. We all know the kind of level of service and quality we can expect the second time round. They've supported the community so much and we know it's gonna stay like that.

But the D³ engine is sooooo much better than the crappy HL² engine, this just can't be. It makes no sense, are these mod makers mad? Can't they recognise the sheer awesomeness of Carmacks masterpiece? What bitter seeds of deceit are we being fed by moddb.com? I mean Halfwit² might have all these fancy facial animators and material Physics, but surely such things are mere trifles compared to per pixel shading and dynamic lighting? Who needs plot when they can have mod after mod of shiny narrow corridors and beautifully rendered grey monsters instead? Who could ever get bored of that? ;)

Yeah the Doom III engine is quite incredible. But the problem is you can only see no more than 4-5 players at the same time on the screen (From Carkmack himselft).

that's why people don't take Doom III over Hl2.
Half-Life is known to be an easy modable game. HL-2 Is going to be even more simple. And I didn't hear anything about vehicles for Doom III. Since vehicles are more popular than ever. H-L2 has everything to make the best enjoyable mod ever.

How mant of them are going to be top quality mods though? Very few, i'll bet. Not even half of them will ever be finished. Personally I think Stalker and Doom 3 will produce some pretty awesome mods too. Not to say there wont be some great ones for HL2.

Yeah about 2 (or maybe even 3!) of those 290 mods will be worth playing.

"Pwned!"

Battlefields 50 odd is pretty decent considering its EA and theres no SDK.

Desert Combat simply owns, its my #1 mod of all time and im also a beta tester for it.

theres only 3 real half life mods, CS DOD and NS.

BF's got DC and EOD (wich is sadly going to die when BF:V comes along but oh well)

To get an idea of how many mods will actually be released, you'll have to divide the numbers by 5. But that still gives HL2 a very impressive mod community.

Well the game isn't out yet. If valve have done it right, the number should rise considerably after people have played it.

You obviously haven't played enough MP, eventually it gets boring and the desire for plot and meaning arises.

Single player is ok the 1st time then its just a mess.

Whats different exactly about multiplayer? Sometimes I kick your ass, sometimes you kick mine? Then you get bored/hungry/tired and you log. Then the next day Rinse/ repeat......yawn. :dozey:

That s impossible!!! But HL is well known for modable, it is worth to spend on 50 dollars and playing many mod game for free! But I prefer Doom3's engine better. When it has released then mod will able playing around with D3's engine to see how to mod it then many more mod will be registered when D3 released.

considering the fact that as of right now i suck at counter strike, i'm sticking with sp

We always knew this was true, but now we have proof. :)

And I would like to mention that the vast majority of those mods were probably inspired by the success and Valve's adoptation of mods like CS and TF. It would be interesting to see how the pre-CS mod scene looked.

Actually I found BF1942 to suck. Not the gameplay, but just the feel and the controls, it just didnt feel like I coud turn my guns fast enough, and the control sceme on the tanks suck, I mean, I actually want to SEE where my turret is pointing.

It is official; ModDB confirms: Doom III is dying

Yet another crippling bombshell hit the beleaguered Doom III community when last month ModDB confirmed that Doom III accounts for less than a fraction of 1 percent of all mods. Coming on the heels of the latest survey which plainly states that id Software has lost more market share, this news serves to reinforce what we've known all along. Doom III is collapsing in complete disarray, as further exemplified by failing dead last in the recent PC Gamer DX9 game review.

You don't need to be a Kreskin to predict Doom III's future. The hand writing is on the wall: Doom III faces a bleak future. In fact there won't be any future at all for Doom III because Doom III is dying. Things are looking very bad for Doom III. As many of us are already aware, id Software continues to lose market share. Red ink flows like a river of blood.

Doom III is the most endangered of them all, having lost 93% of its core developers. The sudden and unpleasant departures of long time Doom developer John Romero and musician Trent Reznor only serve to underscore the point more clearly. There can no longer be any doubt: Doom III is dying.

All major surveys show that Doom III has steadily declined in market share. Doom III is very sick and its long term survival prospects are very dim. If Doom III is to survive at all it will be among PC game hobbyist dabblers. Doom III continues to decay. Nothing short of a miracle could save it at this point in time. For all practical purposes, Doom III is dead.

Fact: Doom III is dying

Jesus, Doom3 havent out yet!!! What s wrong with you!? When HL 1 out and there is one mod for it, Fort team, I think. Then a few years later, HL1's mod community (special thanks to CS, CS was mod once) has expanded. I believe that Doom3 is not drying, dude who wrote this artictle, he might get paid to write some bullshit. ID software is big game industry because ID sells games's engine, HL1 used quake 1/2 engine (in fact, HL2 still using some ID's code.) and SOF2, AJ2, RTCW, and many more are using quake 3's engine. Many new games will be used doom 3's engine.

Team work. (wich ive yet to see done decently in any game)

of course if you just play Hl MP then yeah it gets retarded but games like BF have massive maps and tons of vehicles so theres 1000* more tactics.

1st. cant turn guns fast enough? what guns infantry guns turn as fast as you can move your mouse. Tank guns turn plenty fast.

2nd. Im assuming you were in 3rd person view or something becuase thats the only time you dont see where your turrets pointing. Use 1st person view and you can see everywhere the turret points.

meh.
