Guitar Hero 2: Custom Tracks

People have figured out how to make custom tracks for GH2 and swap them for the tracks originally found on the disc. This is an opportunity for endless replay value as long as people keep making custom songs.

Note: You need a bunch of freeware programs, the original mp3 of the song and either a modded ps2 or Swap Magic discs.

I tested this out with just one track, Tenacious D - Master Exploder (it caught my eye) and it worked perfectly (the song is tough - stupid chord changes).

Currently accumulating a bunch of great songs for a full burn.

Yeah, and whoever did these songs and compiled them did a pretty bad job. So many of the songs are off or just have a boring rhythm part instead of the sweet solos.

90% of the songs I've played don't even compare to the ones Red Octane have made. The user-made ones are mostly inaccurate (they don't follow the song properly), off-time and skimp on the good parts of songs because it'd be hard to make. Also, when you miss a note or even a series of notes, the music keeps on playing. This combined with the other flaws makes the songs feel more like a play-along kind of game rather than a GH feeling where you actually feel like you're doing the playing.

That 1st song you posted Kage, the only reason the guy made it through is because he's using a speed hack. It speeds up the fret board but spaces the notes out further so they're easier to read and hit.

Although these 2 songs are the best songs I've seen yet in terms of quality.

I think I'll wait a few months 'till there are more high-quality songs out there.

I was watching that second video, and when he missed a note, the music guitar stopped, just like in GH....I guess I don't understand.

Plus I could run through that first song..I wouldn't do good, but I could probably do it if my wrist didn't fall off.....

I agree though, quality songs will take time...too bad they didn't just add this ability to begin with ;(
