Guitar Hero 2 longevity ?

So, it comes out tomorrow and I have it pre-ordered but I'm still a little wary (It's $160AU, for one controller o_0).

How much fun am I going to get out of this ? I've never really card for guitars but the game seems rad but also seems like it might be a bit of a gimmick, so for those of you who haven't really been into guitars/these types of games how did it fare (Like, if you got it for PS2 or whatever) ?

If you've never played a game with proper audio feedback like this (for isntance games like Frequency, Amplitude, the Music series, and even DDR/Stepmania), then you'll probably find something unique in the way it works. I can't play a proper guitar very well, and I'm not usually that in to some of the stuff played, but actually being part of it and hearing your line stop if you mess up is really awesome.

Well, it comes out in a few hours and I don't have work today so I think I might go down, see what the return policy is and try and decide if I should get it or not.

I've been playing GH2 since it came out on the PS2. It's very addictive, especially if you can't be arsed to learn to play a real guitar. :dork:

Finally managed to pull through Jordan on expert other day, got 4 stars first time. :bounce:

[edit] for the record I've never been a big fan of rhythm games.

This game got me playing GH2 again (for PS2 obviously), and I suck at it now . Was always stuck on the second last section on hard though. ****ing tripping billies or whatever it's called.

Agreed. I have to take it to all the movie nights I go to now, so that my addict friends can steal it off me and play it. Even girls who hate gaming.

if you have ps2, also get the first GH, it has a much better and larger selection of music

Alright, I'm 97% sure I'll get it when the shops open in ~45mins or so - does this mean I'll be the first HL2.Net-er to have it ? Thanks Ennui and others too.

dekstar, movie nights, eh ? A friend is having a movie/hang out/poker thing tomorrow night so I'll bring it along but it will suck with only 1 guitar (They don't know when they'll have more or even if they will sell separately, etc).

I do have a PS2 so if I find it cheap somewhere, I'll probably get it.

I'm probably the biggest Guitar Hero finatic here....and I must say, the game rocks. The longetivity is huge, especially if you start on Easy *which you will*. the 4 difficulties are so huge in difference, that it will take you a while to master them all. The game rocks, is fun as hell, and you feel like you are ACTUALLY playing.

Anyway, GH2 for $128 at Big W (It was $127 at JB but that would've taken me like 40mins to go, get it and come home) as opposed to $160 at EB !

Geez, I really want to get a 360 for GH2 solely. Just so I can have those extra songs/downloadables....

Same Cyber. The PS2 version is awesome, but the extra tracks and stuff just makes me want the 360 more. And I usually hate the Xbox series.

Yeah, I'm not an xbox lover *don't like 90% of the games + the controller is too big for my tastes...that aside* I'm sad that you get charged for gh2 songs. It better not be much, otherwise I'll just scrap the idea. People already have the ability to make custom songs for the PS2, though you need a mod chip/special loading CD. Either way, they have it done for the PS2, so it's only a matter of time before it gets to be a higher quality.

Good effort from the blurry cell phone pic but it's Lion King in my Mega Drive.

Anyway, so awesome and some songs are hard (And I'm talking about on Easy :x).
