So what do you guys think of the game after you've purchased it? Personally, I'm enjoying it a whole lot! Great songs along with fun multiplayer. This will keep me entertained for ever.
 
I'm really happy that they were finally able to include original tracks this time around.
 
Yeah, I wish I had a system that had online :( Damn you PS2!
 
I had to get it exchanged right out of the box as the red button didn't work. :rolleyes: Other than that great game so far.
 
How's Knights of Cydonia? A couple of friends and I were discussing how it's not really the best guitar-based Muse song they could have chosen. Plug-In Baby ftw.
 
w00t for a dragonforce song put in there! Can it trump the near-impossible Jordan from GHII???

I'm not a fan of the track list. There's only like 2-3 songs I want to go back and play multiple times. Whoever said that the difficulty is between GH1-2 is full of shit. This game is way harder than the other two.

I can't beat a couple of the last songs on expert, One (79% in I fail every time, there's just a wall of notes), and the Slayer song (the beginning with the 4-note runs).

Overall I'm getting kind of tired of Guitar Hero. I'm looking forward to Rock Band still though. I like the track list a lot better and I can't wait to start on the drums.

There is definitely more of a "fast finger hits" time in it, but I'll admit, this added difficulty is great for me. Only way to get better is to play the harder songs. The last 2 songs on expert have me stuck, but other than that, the rest weren't so bad.

Yeah, I've been pretty proficient at playing the game without the guitar, though on some songs it's just impossible, since it's too fast on repetitive same notes over and over...but fun none the less.
 
I'm not interested simply because i have no finger movement capabilities. My fingers are essentially stumps.

Lol yeah. Really it's all practice. I only started out OK at the game because I played Stepmania alot, so my fingers were used to doing the rhythm thing. This game isn't for everybody, but hell, it sure is fun :p
 
I love it right now! Of course I suck though, I can pass the songs on Easy first try, but I would be concerned about Medium overwhelming me. There is a difficulty change since the last one for sure, more difficult I would say.

No regrets here, killer soundtrack.
 
Eh its alright. I guess im just more excited for rockband.

Am I the only person that feels like they kind of tried to extremify the game? I mean it was extreme before, but now its like "OH MAN WE GOT SLASH, AND TOM MORELLO AND DUDE YOU GET TO ****ING BATTLE THEM. OH AND JUDY NAILS NOW HAS ****ING WATERMELON BREASTS! EXTREEEEEME"
 
From a dev who has, in the past, pretty much solely made games based on extreme sports? Not hard to imagine. :p

What does everyone think of the product placement/advertising? I've heard it's pretty bad.
 
Someone brought it to the campus lounge today.

I think the same thing I thought about all of the other GH games: Lame. If you've got that much attention span, why don't you learn a real instrument? The songs where fine, I guess.
 
Attention span? That's exactly why the games are so popular.

It takes weeks to get good at Guitar Hero. It takes years to get good at a real instrument.
 
Is it honestly worth buying? I have GH2 on 360 with 2 guitars and don't get me wrong, I <3 it, but I don't know how I feel about forking out > $120AU for something which doesn't seem to have a whole lot new. I think I need to rent it but they don't rent GH at video stores around here. :( Actually, if I can buy just the game and use my 2 current controllers I'd be super happy.

Either way, my 360 RRoD'd on Sunday so I won't have it back for another week or 2. :(

Unless you're looking at the package with the guitar, in which case why even get another if you already have 2? Just get the game by itself - it's like $80 at most here.
 
Question. Do I have to be online with the 360 as I enter the stupid code it gives me to link my account to the community site? Given my dorm room situation, it is impossible for me to be on Live and on my computer, so that would really suck.
 
Wow, the Encore songs are amazing! The regular soundtrack was good by itself, but the phenominal list of Encore tracks put it over the edge.

Ok, I hate it. It came out a few days back now in the UK and I managed to get me a copy today. Got back home all excited as you do with a new game. I am a guitar hero fan, I have 2, love playing it to pieces and my controler is falling apart having play it so much but guitar hero 3 is a compleat fail.

Things that annoy me:
Song recordings, I really perfure the cover songs from the first 2 then these origanal tracks. They have not been recorded to work with the game and often sound as though something is missing. The songs just sound "old" You know when you stick an old casset in your hi-fi and the sound quality is just bad :/
Dodgy Notes, Nearly all the songs don't match up very well with the song or have extra notes thrown in which Just arnt there. I have been sitting playing with my
GF and at times we are looking at each other saying "wtf those notes arnt making any noise"... A great example is the Rage encore. There isnt even much guitar in it and im playing the bass? There is a section of complete silence and yet notes are still coming at me?
Play List, Although I do like my rock/metal and a lot of the bands in the game they have just picked such bad examples of their talents, with few fun riffs and solo's. I'm a massive fan of sabbath and parinoid is a fantastic song but it has the same riff going on throughout the hole song and is a really bad choice. Its the same with so many of the tracks.

This game is lazy, they through it together with a load of big artists but spent no time picking good songs or working them proply so the notes worked with the songs correclty. They rushed it out the door because they knew it would sell to the masses and was an easy buck.

And to top it all off I payed an extra ?10 on top? Rather then ?39 it was ?49 (without guitar) where is the logic in that? Easy money.... Bring on Rock Band!

Uh, I think your sound system must be screwed; I hear Guitar from beginning to end on the RATM song. I'm also playing this game religiously and haven't noticed any "complete silence with notes still coming at me". Seriously, I'd check your speakers. Or better yet, check some youtube videso to compare:

Regarding the song list, I think it's almost flawless. The only songs I don't like playing are all in the bonus list. :)
 
Yeah, for the most part the bonus tracks were unremarkable. Though I loved:

Killswitch Engage - My Curse
Rise Against - Prayer of the Refugee

And of course the Dragonforce song (Through the fire and the flames).
 
I played the Dragonforce song for an hour and a half. Stupid fun even though I get only 50-70% each time on medium.
 
Perhaps I will give it another chance then, it just didn't get that same buzz out of it as I did with guitar hero II, I didnt feel as though I was playing the songs.
 
GH3 was ok, but me and my mates all agree GH2 was better and we'd rather have Rock Band
 
After playing guitar on rock band and then going back to this at home, It seems instead of trying to make the note patterns make sense and fit the song, its just "AND NOW A WALL OF NOTES LOL".
