Well I think it looks ok.. I'd like to see it fully textured though.
 
why doesn't anyone give "wireframe" or "trianglecount"
this should become a rule on this forum imHo ;)

so what's the trianglecount Elmos ?
 
Here is the wire frame and im not sure what a tirangle count is, if its poly count it is 6957 :S i need to make it lower. Anyone no what could be using up lots of polys?

Cylinders use a lot of polygons. (Polygons are GENERALLY triangles, although some game engines allow the use of quads, most people use triangles and polygons interchangably)
I would try removing all of those black rings, on the part in front of the trigger. They look 10 sided. That means that you have... 10 x 2 = 20 x 3 = 60 x 10(you have 10 rings) = 600 polygons. That's a fair amount.
Remember that each square is 2 triangles, look at your wireframe and you'll see what I mean ;)

managed to get it down to about 4480 without removing anything
 
Some thoughts,

1. it's a good looking model though not enough detail for almost 7k. And it looks like that's untriangulatd counts.
2. to get the triangle count convert the model to editable mesh.
3. it appears that receiver body was made by extrding a spline. this is an OK method for super low poly models or 3rd person models but tend to give the model that extrmeley blocky look.
4. all of your cylinders are way to many polygons. a 8 sided cylinder with proper smoothing apears perfectly rounded when rendered. Also on your cylinder you are using the default 5 segement heitgh levels. You only need 1 height segment most of the time.
5 So far shortfuse is the only one who makes the greay and black model renders look good. For your puposes now i would advise using a solid grey on the entire model. It looks like you weapon has a skin disease.
6. Aim for a 2k-3k poly limit (triangulated)
 
when i converted everything to an editable poly the polycount thingy is now 2150
 
why don't u just make a model template for the forums, so u add the links into each section or attach images to each section. make them auto resize to 640x 480 and have them clickabley enlarged.
