In the E3 2004 video i think we all noticed that when pointing a gun at friendly's, the gun is lowered to prevent you from shooting them.

While i see how this can help to prevent the accidental shootings during battles, it seems as though it would also prevent the planned shootings. I mean, who here has never got pissed because barney shot you in the back, and then retaliated on him with a shotgun to the face?

Or how about that first time where you accidentaly killed your own scientist... it was kind of sad, felt like i lost a friend (that feeling soon passed).

So my question i suppose is, does anyone know if valve is planning on having this as an option that can be easily turned off (eg. Auto-Aim), or is this just something we'll have to learn to live with?

What are your thoughts?

I think it's toggled, since in one of the two Strider videos (think it's the second), Gordon does not lower his gun when friendlies enter the crosshair.

yeh theres a post about this floating around, I believe its like in call of duty, only with an animation.

Thanks, quick reply, i guess we can delete if its already been discussed?

Hrm, interisting thought, maby it is only lowered on story dependant characters, because it would take some fun out of suspecting some citizians of spying if you could tell who was friend or foe, also there might also be no shot areas where you cannot shoot anyone.

Think that would be for the best, we really want to keep the repeats to a low at the moment.
