Hi again
I have started yet another model (im still working on the 3d concept scene, i didnt give up on it). This time its a low poly (2300 polys, will lower it when im done) Sig551 or 552. I havent made a gun model in a very long time, and its also my first poly modeling gun (starting with a 2 by 2 plane) I still need more to do, but im putting this on hold to work on my other models. I included a wire and a regular render. C&C
Thanks

nice start. i think the main bit has far to many pollys for what it is but it would be hard to cut that down. also try adding alot more detail into it, it looks abit umm bland .. but as you say its not finished yet.

keep up the good work

looks very nice. The magazine seems too large to me.

Also, you seem to have wasted polys in sight and on the main portion, but nothing too serious.

Thanks for the replys -
I tryed editng the main portion of the gun by removeing some edges, but it seemed like whatever edge i took off it was connected to a piece of detail which messed that up. If i recall there is more detailed on the right side at this point, ill render that other side once im done rendering the update for the 3d concept scene.

Ok heres the right side of the gun. Im getting off the computer now after my 13 straight hour session, my ass hurts...........

just do the do the weld thing when you make it an editable polygon.

looking nice, simple but good looking, keep it up dude!

Thanks for the replys everyone - i made a first person render, tell me if you like
Thanks

I like the gun but shouldn't it be closer to the center?

It needs some to be structured a bit different because atm it looks like you have box modelled it. I really need to make a vtm on how I model weapons to show people how to do it a little better than box modelling. I will see if I can put something together when I get home and look to host it somewhere.

Also you need to align your first person view better. Here are some images to show you how it should be:

That should help you.

IchI, do a decent video tute and we'll host it here. Use the techsmith codec and Camtasia

I will try get one done when I get home, I can't promise anything though. Because I might just get lazy and one of my speakers has broken on my home theature system so I have to go get it replaced and pickup the new battry for my minidisk player. So its a busy day :p

Infact. Give me about 1 week. I am going to add vocals etc... It should help out alot, I mean I am not the smartest person in the world but I should be able to try and describe what I am doing. I am going to break it down into about 4 vtm's. Ow and it will be on the berreta 9000, I did a very simple and small VTM on this weapon ages ago for Mace. I liked modelling it and it shows peoiple how to detail with complex faces etc... So anyway. I am gunna get to it. I will do some today and I work wednesday and thursday so can;t do any then, I am free on friday I work saturday and I am free from sunday to tuesday. So proberly expect it around tuesday. When its finished I will contact you on IRC fenric. Then you can host it for me. Hopfully it will all go as planned and I can do something helpful for once :p

You'd probably be better contacting Munro on IRC, he knows about the tutorial vids cause I've been harping on about them to him for a while heh.

What I'm thinking would work best is a section on the site split up. Have the extreme basic, the basic, the midlevel, the high end tutorial sections. Which would cover random area's people are having the most trouble with. Then a futher more refined section split up as modeling, texturing, rendering, rigging and so on. So splitting up your tute's into parts to cover each bit should work well. I need to run that by him first though, but I can't see him saying no to such an amazingly cool idea *grins* :D

Don't really have to worry about size neither, if you use something like Camtasia and use the techsmith codec you can save .avi files at full resolution with audio and they still keep relativly small. I did a test last night at 1280x1024 with audio which was a few minutes long, only came up to 8mbish in size. Which is pretty good. We could also make copies of the tutorials and create low res versions, so dialup users don't miss out

Just idea's basically :D

Thanks for the replys -

crabcakes66 - i guess so, thats the size it was on the refrence.

Rupertvdb - Probably nothing since im not in any mods.

eddie500 - Thanks :)

mrchimp - Thanks, yeah it should be, after seeing the pictures that Ichi posted i need to fix the position.

Ichi - I just learnd how to poly model, which i used to box model my guns. But i see what you mean how it looks like it was box modeled. It would be a lot of help for everyone, includeing me if you made a vtm. And thanks for the pictures, they helped a lot.

ye I have already started, just give me some time. I am not the best modeller in the world and I sound kinda stupid on the mic and also I suck at describing things so its not exactly pro styling. But I am planning on doing quiet a lot of them to help some people out. Just give me like a week to finish them and like 12 years for munro to do anything with them :/
