You wouldn't understand how stressed I am right now, i've got an absolute mountain of work to get through in the next couple of weeks :(

Because I can't progress much without getting this problem sorted, and its just stressing me out. It's 4:17am and i'm not in a great mood.

Multiple -vmtparam statements in the same Vtex command, like this:

This would create the following sample_material.vmt specifying parameters for a bumpmapped specular material:

let me help with the My girl friend broke up with me thing:

For sometime now I've suspected that my wife may be having an affair. You know the sort of thing. The phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up.
Recently she has started going out 'with the girls' a lot and when I ask which girls it's always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them".
I always used keep an eye out for her taxi coming home but now she always walks up to the apartment, although I can hear a car setting off as if she has just got out of one around the corner.
The other day I picked up her cellphone, just to see what time it was, and she went mental, screaming at me that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.
Anyway, I have never approached the subject with her. I kind of think deep down I don't really want to know the truth.
But then last night she went out again and I decided that I would check up on her. I hid behind my car which I knew would give me a good view of the whole street so I could see which car she got out of on her return.
It was whilst I crouched behind my car that I noticed rust around my rear wheel well.
So my question is do you think I should take it into a body repair shop or should I try to repair it myself?

Fix it yourself, I mean the freaking shops charge an arm and a leg....

or maybe you could give them your cheating wife's arm and leg?

Or you could steal a new car!

Why do people have to go around saying, "this will be closed soon!" Isnt that considered spam as well?
 
Shens the hard part is in telling the materials thingy to use the alpha channel of my TGA as the mask for the specular reflections...
 
The pink blocky patterned building on the left is what happens when I try to apply the mask as a seperate TGA (VTF) and the building covered in the specular crap is what happens when I use the alpha channel whilst selecting the default specular texture.

Why can't stuff just work?

Can the mods do anything about the idiot spammers who just come into threads and make posts like "this thread is teh spamzor, it will be cl0s3d" and other ruining the thread as a bit of fun.

It has happened to two posts i have looked at today, both of which were not spam and both of which got crapped on by idiots.

OK, this is a cool effect and everything but why is my Alpha mask having no effect on the placement of the funky effects whatsoever?

I've saved the base texture as a 32 bit Targa with the alpha channel masking just the glass panels in the windows... i've created the VMT with this code: -

"LightmappedGeneric"
{
"$baseTexture" "huddsuni/cswwindows"
"$bumpmap" "sdk/bumpspecular_normal"
"$envmap" "env_cubemap"
}

"VertexLitGeneric"

...and yet it still screws up. :(
 
you can't have it lightmappedgeneric and vertexlitgeneric. Lightmapped is for world geometry. Vertex lit is for models

That's not right. These are the normal HL2 settings for textures with alpha maps.

You sure you did everything else right?

Self illumination changes things into light-emitters like light entities ... I want to use specular lighting to reflect the sky cubemap on the windows... I know it's doable because valve have done it.
