Mine is just the regular theme right now, but a while back it said Windows Longhorn on the boot screen. ;)

...i thought u got hacked or something had happened :( when i saw the title

I'm keeping my Windows a virgin.

I actually made my windows xp machine as "ugly" as possible with the UI.. saves resources better without all the pretty crap.

Mainly default, install a theme every now and then but always get annoyed with it and go back to normal.

Yeh, i'd rather not have my recourses sucked away like that.

Just a silver taskbar (windows own) and some konfabulator widgets

You're all hilariously boring :p

Surely someone has done something? ;(

Also I had a Matrix theme...I'll never do that again. :( Basically said "Hey spyware brothers Datrix's computer is having a party and we are all invited!"

Considering currently I have running mIRC, Firefox, MSN, Limewire, and Steam and using about 13% CPU power max...

Spyware clean.. virus clean... :D

haxed uxtheme, haxed registry to remove the useless progs, haxed the services list to stop the useless crap that does nothing but takes up resources, also haxed IE with FF ... take that billyboy

how do you stop the services list? i haven't figured that out

Just a hax0red theme
I prefer a simple clean sleek look
Objectdock, etc are too bulky

Yeah, same here. All that widget crap. Loads of them are shareware lameness.

If you want a pretty Windows XP without installing any other programs:

Download the small patch from here, UXTheme Multi-Patcher.
http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=140707

It'll patch windows UXTheme.dll to let you use unsigned styles. It didn't fark up my system or anything.

Get some cool styles from here:
http://browse.deviantart.com/skins/windows/visualstyle/?view=1&order=9&limit=24

Stick the folder you downloaded into D:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes. Then you can choose the style from: Right-click Desktop > Properties > Appearance

Where do you get a new Logon Screen and Boot Screen? Also, how do you install it?

Also, how do I get the really cool looking desktop icons? Is it possible through UXTheme? I would love to have a Digital Desktop Clock.. :)

I am lucky to get Windows to run, let alone Hax it up.

Currently on 3rd attempted install of windows2k.....

Man, I wish I could customize all I wanted. I tried it once, but it totally raped by RAM. I need to get a new computer so I can realize my customization dreams. I'm a custo-whore at heart. :p

Anyway, screenshot I took yesterday.

I highly suggest FlyakiteOSX if you're into the mac feel. It rules so much.

As basic as possible here. If I can see my desktop for more than a couple of minutes, im wasting time not working on something.

I use StyleXP with the milk theme (when I get round to formatting and starting all over again I'll just hack the uxtheme.dll) and CureInfo2k.

Can be seen here.

I can't be bothered, it's one of those pointless things that you can do like having Visualisations in media players, why would I want to stare at my desktop all day or other parts of the window system? I'd be much happier customising TFC ;)

Which is one of the reasons I don't have umpteen widgets on my desktop, because the majority of the time I have something covering them up. I customise the start menu because that's almost always visible and I don't want to stare at a default windows monstrosity.

Shamrock, I got most of the stuff that I'm using atm from themexp.org and deviantart.com.
I used StyleXP to get the icons, logon, and boot screen.

I don't look at my boot screen, logon screen or desktop. Theming them would be a bit pointless.

is there any other way to change it, i don't really want to install software to do so...?

I'm on ugly mode too... im sure i had a reason for it. But i've just kept it as it is, if its not on ugly mode its silver.

I've had it on various other things in the past but the demo's always ran out on the software n shiz, like windows blinds... so i give up!

I believe there are tutorials on themexp.org that will tell you how to change your logon and boot screen. There is really no way to use different visual styles without patching the uxtheme.dll or using some third party program.

Nothing special. Just a little dark so it doesn't hurt my eyes when I have to use it long.

btw, how can I get some kind of calendar on my PC? Preferably, one that gives me pop ups at certain times for special reminders.

ooo thanks to this thread, i have now given myself a decent (Warcraft) logon screen and pretty neat theme :D yay.
