DIE!!!:flame: :flame: :flame:

sorry, if we didn't have hackers, we wouldn't have computers.

look into it.

save hacking for war not personal pleasure...

fu**in idiots

....You know, not all hackers are evil.
Thats why distinctions such as hackers/crackers or whitehat/blackhat exist....hackers are usually the drving force behind so much technology that its rediculous to hate them as a group.
But feel free to hate certain individuals. :D

they make me cry!

so they make companies think... but why have them spend time trying to make hacking prevention when they can spend more time thinking on how to make their program even greater?

OR RELEASE A DAMN GAME ON TIME?

thats fu**in gay not to VALVe but to the guy whod do that.... Will rot in hell

LOL, thats what this is about.

we never heard a delay as a result of this.

A hacker is a programmer who can "hack" something together quickly.

A cracker is someone who forces their way onto a system.

I swear 99.9% of people don't know this. If anyone calls themself a hacker they arn't a serious uber cracker. A cracker may also be a hacker though, and simply hack programs together in order to gain access to systems. This is where people obviously got mixed up.

Saying all hackers/crackers are idiots is stupid! Whitehat hackers/crackers are the good guys. They just do it for education and the challenge, and alot of them work officially for various companies. Any sys-admin would give his right arm for a hacker/cracker to work for him and protect his system.

There are also "good hackers" who are actually involved in securities and attempt to hack the hackers. They have my respects and gratitude.

Now the "bad hackers" will need more than a .50 cal unfortuantely. But I've heard Iraq has limited time discount on WMD's. (or not).

Actually, you can pursue a career in hacking for the police.

You obviously know the 'hackers' hes talking about , just use the friggin context. And Id do the same thing. They are basically breaking into peoples personal property (Think car) , having a look around at private material , and then destroying it (Burn , steal , vandalize the car) or stealing something from it (stereo in the car)

yeah but.. i cant play HL2 in my car... :(

lol but exactally!!

Its vandalizing!

Some vandalize, others explore, and still others look for flaws in software or websites and repot them to their creators. The term Hacker is used in such a negative way now. True hackers do not vandalize things either by the way. Hackers just like to take stuff apart, explore it. Whoever hacked into Valve sounds very intellignet, clever, not your typical idiot. Whoever did it also isn't bragging about it which is normally what an inexperienced person does. It sounds very well planned too, going by what Gabe says.

Hackers with malicious intent should get serious jail time...not death though, unless they launch a nuke or something....

The thing is, most hackers with malicious intent are teenagers writing viruses. They always get caught because they make stupid mistakes. The ones who are really pros don't get caught, therefore making the crime carry a more sever sentence doesn't really stop them. So it won't stop the pro's, and they could do alot more damage than any of your normal teenage hackers.

You wouldn't be referring to certain individuals that steal valuable classified source code for really nifty games that we're all members of forums for, would you? :afro:
